Wake Forest Twitter Thread aka Coach Scheier wins the Internet

Betting these tweets are much ado about nothing. If RW's chief concern is recruiting high-character kids, he's got no reason to be upset w/ Lobo or Knorr.

And I seriously doubt we can afford to fire Grobe with four years left on his contract.

My guess is RW chalks this FB season up to injuries and focuses on evaluating Bz. Basketball is where we have to be bleeding money.

Well he delegates to fucking idiots. Steed Lobotzke should of been fired five years ago. He's always about two years late in trying to copycat somebody elses offensive scheme. The man is a fucking moron.

And everything we ever hear is that Lobo runs the offense that Grobe wants. Which means they're both dated and worthless. Take them out back and shoot them.

If a man delegates all the work to his assistants, stands like a statue on the sidelines, can't motivate anyone, and ultimately is responsible for a crappy product on the field, why exactly should Wake continue to pay him big $ to be head coach? Because he caught lightning in a bottle six years ago and won an ACC championship?

Grobe said Wellman didn't force his hand, but the word on the street says otherwise.

I tend to believe the word on the street these days.

However, I do know that Billings and Grobe disagreed on a few things, so that could have contributed to his firing.

I have no idea why Coach Henry was fired, though.

Sheer incompetence.

If Josh Harris is going to be upset, he should be upset at himself. I've never seen such a primadonna. How many games has he been unable to finish in his time at Wake? Several come to mind. If he wanted to play, he'd fight through injuries. Not only that, he was a fumble machine. Two ways to lose playing time is turn the ball over and not stay healthy. He had big-play potential, but never put it all together. He talked a good game, always did, but you have to perform.

And Y'Lou was a malcontent and was soft. I didn't miss him one bit.

I agree that changes need to be made, but I'd be worried about losing Grobe. Not many people have been able to win at Wake Forest, and the thought "the grass isn't always greener" comes to mind. Hate to lose somebody who has provided so much stability to a traditionally awful program.

I agree with this soooo much. I have sat through many 1-10 and 2-9 seasons and Grobe changed that. I love what Grobe has done for the program, but I am not happy with the OC and DC right now, but I am really scared of going back to what we use to be.

No its just Wellman being concerned about how he'll perceived at the next $500 alumni dinner. Sack up you worthless old man.

Ron Wellman: "There are 47 percent of our fans who will hate the coach no matter what. My job is not to worry about those people."

This sucks. It's hard to believe that two programs that reached such highs just a few short years ago have been driven into oblivion by incompetent administrators. It didn't have to happen.

Which is why Wellman is going to have to fire Grobe to GET RID OF effing Lobo Lobotomy, finally.

Oglesby is legit. Former player, but he is still very connected to WFU athletes (football and basketball). He is from Winston-Salem. Walk-on or scholly player- doesn't matter. He practiced, suited up on Saturdays and was part of the team.

He could be referring to the friendship between Wellman & Grobe...

BTW...for clarification, Grobe's son Ben married Lobo's wife's sister this summer.

I am not making excuses for Grobe. I think he should accept ultimate responsibility for the state of the program. My point is that his leadership style relies on a team approach to handling coaching duties; when he had strong coordinators (like Hood and Lambert) Wake had a lot of success, and when those guys left and he promoted guys internally that weren't as good we have struggled. That's why I think the coordinators need to be changed, but I still have faith in Grobe. Not many people can succeed at Wake.

Basketball I can see, but how can you blame Wellman and/or Grobe being incompetent for football's decline? It's the same people from when we were successful and I think it would be a pretty big stretch to say that Wake Forest football was successful in spite of them

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to PhDeac again.

What a terrible, terrible post. You are a coward. What Grobe has done since the Orange Bowl is not spectacular, and can almost certainly be replicated by any number of mediocre coaches that wouldn't cost $2M+ every season. To say that you're not happy with the OC and DC, but that you're scared to replace the HC, is unbelievably absurd. Like, batshit crazy absurd.

I guess what gets me is not necessarily the Xs andOs but rather just how indifferent the whole team and staff seems to be in games. Where is the leadership? Who are the captains? We just looked completely lost all year. Really the UNC game (maybe UVA and BC too) was the only positive effort all year.

Here's a different angle.

Wellman knows that he may be gone if we have another horrible basketball season under Bz. He also knows there's no way he'd get fired if he makes a great football hire. Could also buy time for Bz as well.

Other responses:

Trust me. I've been saying the same thing the entire year. The fact that we wasted T-Bo for four years kills me. One run all year...that's a joke of scheme.

They did it with Ovie his junior year. Zero carries for an NFL prospect FB. Then they repeat the same mistake this year.

Playing time & politics, IIRC

I don't get this. First of all, when Brown left he was 16th on the all-time list for receptions. It would have taken 25 last season to make the Top 10. He got playing time and touches. He would have been the #2 or #3 WR last year with Givens and Camp and probably would have been on the field for over 70% of plays. Second, he went to WVU where he was probably the #3 or #4 option. People seem to forget that he was a good player for us and he would have made us a better team last year.

I hope so. You'd think people would realize how full of it he is after witnessing dumpster fire after dumpster fire with the players he hypes up.
