2018-2019 NHL Thread – Thunderstorm Warning

Chris Pronger may join NHL Player Safety; wouldn't rule on Flyers

wooooo.... suspend all non-Flyer players in the Metro!

Seriously though, how funy is the idea of Chris Pronger being part of the Department of Player Safety??

One, he racked up 1,916 penalty minutes in the regular season and playoffs combined over his 18-year NHL career. He was suspended eight times for a total of 22 games – 20 in the regular season and two in the playoffs. The infractions? Slashing. High-sticking. Leaving the bench to join an altercation. Cross-checking. Kicking (twice). Hitting the head (twice).
...

But Pronger would be an inspired choice.

If you want to build a better safe, hire a safe-cracker. That was part of the reason NHL commissioner Gary Bettman hired Brendan Shanahan to lead the DPS when it was formed in 2011, and it was part of the reason Bettman named Quintal as Shanahan’s replacement in September. Shanahan and Quintal both had run-ins with the law during their NHL careers.

are flyers over salary cap? they were only under because they could take his long term injury exception. if he retired they go over the cap.

They are way over and he would not technically retire.

Caps escape with a loser point thanks to two disallowed goals (one was a legit no-goal, the other was a weak goalie interference call) for the Habs.

Rookie Andre Burakowsky (19) scored his first NHL goal.

Only one game on the docket tonight: the re-energized Isles visit the injury-ridden Canes.

Atmosphere was electric last night in Dallas. So great to finally have hockey excitement back in Dallas. Stars totally outplayed the Hawks in the first 40. Crawford kept it close, and Chicago got a late equalizer, and Kane's PS was sick.

Dallas is going to be fun to watch. Their speed is ridiculous.

I, personally, am going to cheer for the other team all season. Maybe a one game overreaction, but Carolina's cabinets are embarrassingly bare. It really goes to show how poorly Rutherford did drafting the last decade. Staal is looking slow, Ward is looking washed...probably should have done it last year, but it's time: blow it up. Keep Skinner, Faulk, Lindholm, and maybe Sekera. Everyone else needs to go. Tank hard and get McDavid. Rebuild.

I am happy with the early returns on Trotz. Different style of hockey than the Caps are use to playing and they seem to be taking well to it so far through two games.
