FWIW, seemed like Goodman was just throwing out names rather than using a source within the Texas athletic department that they had Forbes at the top of their list. I love Forbes, but Texas can almost hire any coach in the country; they hired Chris Beard after he took Texas Tech to NC final game. Forbes may be on the TX list, but would be shocked if he was the first name on that list.
That said, even though all coaches are nomads, Forbes has even greater nomadic existence than most as he had to rebuild his career after Bruce Pearl almost destroyed it. He has no ties to this region of the country or the ACC until he took this job. So, he is the first WF coach in football or basketball in decades that it would make sense if he viewed the WF job as just another rung in the ladder. Also, not to give DR cred, age is a factor; given the time it took Forbes to get to this level, he doesn't have the time to coach at WF for 10 years, and then go hunt for the biggest jobs in college basketball. Finally, he has cache' right now, but if WF missed on an NCAAT again next year, not sure how attractive his resume would be to other schools. IOW, think its fair to assume that Forbes and his agent constantly have an eye out for another job and another payday.
