2023 Carolina Panthers thread - HOF Julius Peppers

The Mccaffery trade looks terrible right now, but that dude was a walking injury his last few years and made no effort to play hurt for a team that sucked. He gets traded to a super bowl contender and all of a sudden he is a dependable workhorse....funny how that works. And someday in the future Lamelo Ball is going to play everyday for a playoff team but now he takes days off when his cuts his toenails too short.

Lots of media this morning on Canales book that he wrote with his wife last year on marriage struggles, pornography, alcoholism, and infidelity. It's a faith based book, but I did find it for free online if anyone is curious:

I knew something was wrong with our Suburban for a while. But, like most things, until it was an

Yeah, so I'm going to need a summary of this and how it could factor into his coaching philosophy.

Writing a book with your wife about "marriage struggles, pornography, alcoholism, and infidelity" is already a question mark.

Charlotte Observer reached out for comment to the Panthers, and they said they were aware of the book before making the hire. No other comments.
 
Official PC on Thursday at 10 am.

Did a quick Twitter search to see if any juicy or embarrassing tidbits about Canales and his wife are out there. Nothing. Either people haven't read the book yet or there's not much to it.

 
Can’t imagine many substance abuse counselors would recommend taking this job for your recovery.
 


Either Tepper was spooked by Johnson's asking price or didn't want Johnson.

 
I think the connection to Clemmons is that he's working under Tom Cable, and Cable is directly connected to Canales

Not hard to fathom that Cable doesn't want a lateral move out of LV, but referred Canales to Cameron

it is pretty short and I read pretty fast so just read it at lunch. Basically he spent his first 9 years while with USC and the Seahawks going out drinking on road trips and banging every woman he could find. It started the night of his bachelor party. Finally went to a church marriage retreat and confessed it to his wife. The spent the next few years working through it.

It is written back and forth where she writes a chapter on a certain time period or event, then he writes his perspective on the same time or event. I didn't see anything about porn though I may have missed it.

In any case seems like whatever. It has some off-the-deep-end religious components, but good for them, they seem to have worked their way through it.

I'm not sure it has anything to do about his coaching, other than making him pretty confident in who he is at this point.
 
Throwing in, they both came up in seemingly pretty religious families and are both Crossfit enthusiasts. So that is probably worthwhile backdrop for what we're dealing with.
