2024 MLB Season: Pitchers' Elbows Are Blowing Up...

Yep. To David Rubenstein Carlyle Group.

With the O’s young talent, an owner that is willing to spend could make them a monster.

And spending doesn't have to be "stupid money." Just being willing to spend enough to keep the homegrown talent beyond rookie deals will be a big change. Add some quality second tier free agents. Don't have to get into bidding wars with the Yankees and Dodgers for the splashy ,big name free agents.

Things have really gotten exciting for Orioles fans. Practically my entire fandom has been under the Angelos regime, watching players I loved get traded to competent organizations. This is awesome.

Big news. Was not expecting KC to be able to do that, but good for them seeing it had to be done before asking taxpayers to give $ for a stadium.

In other news, Royals don’t have a single top 100 prospect. Passed over several to take a hs catcher, ugh.

I believe the Royals were top 5 in money spent this off-season even before this signing. Good for them.

It is a lot for a guy with career .307 OBP.
Witt has played two MLB seasons. He is 23. All his numbers jumped from his age 21 season (.722 OPS) to his age 22 season (.813 OPS); Witt also is an elite base-runner, and plays SS (although he has work to do with his defense). If Witt makes a similar jump in 2024, he would be priced out of the Royals budget. This is a risk the Royals have to take. They are hoping to build around Bobby Witt Jr.. If he doesn't become an elite player, the Royals are screwed. Small market teams can spend to keep their own talent, but they can't outspend their mistakes like the Yankees and Dodgers. Like the move, but if Witt gets hurt or just levels off to the point where he's merely an above-average player, the Royals will continue to be a non-factor.

Padres/Dodgers open the Cactus League today:

There a handful of games tomorrow and then, a full slate on Saturday.

The Pads and Dodgers are starting early because they play a season opening series in Korea in late March.

Wake Forest knows something about this:

Blake Snell will sign with the Yankees before the end of the week.
