I am attending Augusta National for the first time tomorrow. Are there any dos or don'ts that I should be aware of? Anything that I should specifically look for? Tips?

Thanks in advance

My advice for Webb or Bill: just be sure to dump the par 3 contest. Everyone else would probably be well advised to stay two drinks shy of sloppy drunk and avoid hollering "You da Man!"

I just went for the 4th time on Monday.

1. Come Hungry - Augusta's concessions are really cheap and trying all the sandwiches are a rite of passage. My personal favorites (in no particular order): Pimento Cheese, Egg Salad, Ham and Cheese on Rye.

2. Sunscreen - It was the hottest it has ever been for me personally. Apply generous amounts of sunscreen.

3. If it is your first time, you need to see the actual course. Go check out Amen Corner, watch a group try and skip balls across the pond on 16, and see all the landmarks mentioned in the program they give you. My family's favorite spot is sitting behind the green on 6, never really crowded and there are concessions and bathrooms nearby.

4. Favorite golfers - If you want to see Tiger, GO EARLY. Like, 8 o' clock early. He'll have a huge crowd following him. Luckily, other fan favorites like Phil and Rory (now, I guess) don't really try and dodge the crowds like Mr. Privacy. Say "Go Deacs!" to Bill, Webb, or Darren if you see them walking up the fairway.

5. See Rickie Fowler's awesome mustache - Try and run into Rickie Fowler this week, he is rocking an AWESOME mustache. Personally, I'm not sure if he is trying to channel 70's porn stars or Jimmy Buffett's drug phase.

I was there on Monday....I agree with the sunscreen commit, as well as the "Amen corner" recommendation. I am now dealing with sun burn. But it is an incredible experience if you are a golf fan. Actually seeing the contours and size of the greens is special. I hope that it doesn't rain and slow down soften the greens.

I went on par 3 day in 08, it was my first and only time so far. We walked the whole course backwards in the morning and got to see a bunch of different people as well as the whole course then in the afternoon we camped out on the 1st green of the par 3 course and watched everyone come through. The highlight of the day was definitely Arnie hitting it within two feet of the hole with his threesome of him, Nicklaus, and Gary Player. Sunscreen is also a must, I forgot to put it on and had on a long sleeve shirt with the sleeves rolled up and ended up with the stupidest looking sunburn ever.

Thanks for the input so far. What can anyone tell me about parking and chairs? I have heard conflicting info on what is allowed to be brought in.

Thanks

You can park outside one of the gates for 10 to 20 bucks.

Armless chairs. They sell them in the shop. Just write your name on the back and you can actually leave it at a certain spot and not worry about it being taken.

I suspect that you cannot bring your own chairs; but do not know for certain.

Regarding parking, my advice is do not bite on the parking for $20 outside the course. There is a huge free parking lot inside the gate. Not sure the capacity; but if you arrive relatively early, you should not have a problem.

Park in the the free lot. Get there early, because the players will be off the course early due to the Par 3. No cell phones.

Any suggestions for going during the tournament? I'm going for the first time on sunday.

Played the Par 3 course a few years ago. Lots of fun, but pretty hard considering how short the holes are.

Cell phones are NOT allowed even during practice rounds, although cameras are allowed for the practice rounds.

Don't expect to be able to buy any good merchandise or a Masters chair on Sunday.

I like sitting in the stands on par 5 #13.

there is no more patron parking inside the gates. There is a tremendous amount of free parking on Berkman Road. All the land was bought by Augusta National and cleared and turned into free parking. The old patron parking lot near the main gate is now the practice facility, and the old patron parking at the Amen Corner entrance is now landscaped. You can carry in fold up style chairs that fit in bags, etc.

get there early...go to 16 and watch the guys skip balls. eat some pimento cheese and drink a green cup beer for me.

You can definitely bring your own chair as long as it doesn't have arms.

Have out in 28.5 hours since yesterday morning and my feet hurt like hell, but there is nowhere I'd rather be this week.
