BBall Recruiting Thread 2k19 - Charles Coleman de-commits to Wake. :(

Jamie signed. Findlay wanted to Periscope it and everything so they put it later in the day

official article on the 2018 class: http://www.wakeforestsports.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/110817aaa.html

Manning on the class:

“Jaylen Hoard is a multi-dimensional, versatile young man who can play inside and outside,” said Manning. “He can score all over and is a very good passer. With his length and athleticism, he is going to bring an element to Wake Forest basketball that we haven’t seen in quite some time. His family, parents Antwon and Katia and siblings Anaia, Leah and Elijah, have been very supportive and we are excited to have them a part of our program.”

“Isaiah is a long wing who is extremely versatile,” said Manning. “He plays with a chip on his shoulder and wears his emotions on his sleeve. He is a great kid who comes from a great family as his parents, Matt and Tessie, have done a wonderful job with him and his brother, Myles.”

“Jamie Lewis a gifted guard who can play the one or the two,” said Manning. “He has a great feel for the game and has a body that is ready to play at the collegiate level. He can score and facilitate the basketball. He has a great support system in his family with his dad, Ryan, and his older brothers.”

“Sharone Wright is a very talented, athletic guard who we feel can bring a lot length and versatility to our team,” said Manning. “I have known his father for an extremely long time, who was a great player in his own right, and remember competing against him in the NBA. We excited to have them join our Wake Forest basketball family.”

I think it's interesting, and admirable, that Manning talks so much about the families of these recruits.
He's obviously getting good ball players as well as quality young men.
Proud they'll all be Deacs.

Way to go Danny!

So Coach Jones recruited Lewis' brother at UCF. Perhaps that was our in.

Awesome class! Can't wait to see these guys in the gold and black. We're going to be a lot of fun on both ends of the court.

It looks like Mucius' team, Brewster, had 6 guys sign NLIs today, including one for Syracuse by a kid named Boeheim.

Jamie Lewis is about the lowest fanfare 4 star recruit we’ve ever had. We lose Ayo and pick up Lewis a couple weeks later. Wow. Great job coaches!!!!!!

Kinda weird how folks were feeling better about SJM than Doral Moore at the end of last season, and now that seems to have totally flipped.

Never really understood what people were seeing to make that assessment. SJM looked hella raw last year. Cigs digressed, but actually showed some signs of legitimate ACC post play as a frosh. Cigs had two games as a frosh with 20 plus minutes in ACC play and had 19/7 and 13/8

There were three things that kept Doral off the court last sesdon.
1 John Collins
2 Stamina
3 Fouling

#1 changed. How much have #2 and #3 changed? We will soon find out.

Moore has also yet to show the slightest bit of coordination -- hand-eye, foot, or otherwise -- that would lead anyone to believe he might be a player. At least Sam has that.

Ugh, there was wayyyyyy more than that.

His inability to set screens without stepping out into the guy he was screening or setting his feet width well beyond his shoulder width was also a major factor. About 10 games in Danny just sat him down every time he did it.

Players with no coordination don't almost get double doubles in back to back acc games.

There’s a lot of potential with Moore. I think with Manning coaching and Moore knowing that now is the time for him to show up...we’ll see some drastic improvements in his game. He just has to completely buy in the way Collins did last year

You always bring this stat up. One of those games was against a BC team that went 0-18 in the ACC that year and pretty much gave up halfway through the first half. We won that game by 26. I'm gonna go on the overwhelmingly larger sample and the #eyetest. If Moore can set good screens, rebound above average, and be in good defensive position in ~18 mpg, I'll be satisfied. A skilled basketball player he is not.
