CP3 makes the top 25 all time assists and Tim continues to climb in points and rbound

just pulled down the top 100 assist teams on bref. they only had the data on play index back to 1970, but here's the breakdown of top 100 teams by decade (with the 80s split in to 80-84 and 85-89)"

Decade Top 100 Teams
70s 27
early 80s 33
late 80s 29
90s 11

The 80s had far and away more than the 70s or 90s, but it was split pretty evenly between the first and second half. additionally the 70s had almost 3 times as many as 90s. the 00s had zero. so i guess the big o probably wouldnt have 100 assists a game or whatever if he played today.

Take out the guys who haven't played enough games (Russell Westbrook) and the ones who don't play enough minutes (Marressee Speights, Brendan Wright) and Duncan's PER ranks 18th in the league at 21.92. He's eighth in the league in rebound rate (19.9) and sixth in defensive win shares (1.32). Only Leonard has a better defensive rating than Duncan on the Spurs (95.2). Duncan's averaging more rebounds per 36 minutes --12.4-- than he ever has and is equaling his best mark in steals per 36 minutes with 0.9. His 2.5 blocks per 36 is his fourth-best ever and the 3.7 assists is tied for second most.

Go home, Father Time, you're drunk.

Duncan has moved up to #17 in points, having passed both Reggie Miller and Jerry West recently. Only 32 rebounds from moving into Top 10 in Rebounds and 50 rebounds to pass Patrick Ewing for #6 in blocks.
