Dan Collins on Dave Glenn Show Today sometime between 1pm and 2pm

Pretty much a rehash of his article. Which is fine for those who didn't see it, but not much new.
 
Basically Dan is saying it's over unless [Redacted] wins big games.

He's also insulting some of the bitches on this board saying "even if Wake won a national championship some of these people would still want him gone."
 
lol "Every coach out there runs a great practice now." Nice jab at Wellman there...
 
DC: Players get drilled and go over plays and schemes in practice, but its not translating to the court. Is it the players or the coaches, regardless its not carrying over to the court.

Dan's actually defending the board a bit outside of the most crazy on here.

He's right though -there's no actual discussion to be had. Go win 3 straight, then take 2 of 3 from the Clemson/BC/UVA stretch... Then at least you can argue there's been SOME legitimate improvement...
 
DC: Radio Show: Wake is doing what everybody else is doing, and doesnt fault WFU for doing it. His issue is the way it was done. As a result, its made the national news.
 
DC: nothing has gone right since April 2010.

Wake is doing what everyone else is doing, but doing it more poorly.
 
DG: Wake fans have historically been a mostly reasonable fan base.

DC: Fans are up in arms. It comes down to the win-loss record more than anything else. Agrees with Wellman that IF wins come, fans will come around. Mentioned Dean Smith as an example. Bz has a terrible record and no wins that could inspire confidence in the future contrasted with a whole bunch of awful losses. Says he thinks we have good players and character guys in CJ and Travis and it just doesn't make sense with the results on the court. Results matter.

DG: The behavior of the fan base seems mean spirited, especially in light of the fact that it's only year 3. Mentioned the ties, the car, the yoga... Does it come down to a lack of connection with the fan base? A lot of losers have gotten a lot more slack than Bz.

DC: Yes it does. Dan know Bz, likes him and enjoys working with him. A lot of the fan base feels like they don't know Bz. Some of the criticism is over the top. Wonders if Dean or K would have made it in the internet era. But it's really bad now. Dan says he's not sure he sees a "program changer" in the freshman class but thinks there are a number of solid ACC players. The situation will probably resolve itself in that we should see the team take a turn this year...the players are there. And if they don't make the turn then Bz probably needs to go. The fans just need something to be excited about. There are some people that won't be convinced even if Bz wins the national title. But either we will "see it" or we won't and so far we haven't. Bz runs a nice practice - most major college coaches do at this point - but the results aren't showing on the court.

DG: Mentions Grobe and Wellman. Have been mainstays at Wake but are now coming under criticism.

DC: The Wake athletic dept is "night and day" since 2010, based on Grobe first and foremost and all of the capital improvements. Nothing has gone right since then. Brings up the radio show. Most schools are doing away with calls. Doesn't fault Wake for doing it, but the way it was done. If they had made the change before the season it wouldn't have blown up. The fans are understandably angry. They are not getting any return on their emotional and financial investment and they are getting frustrated. On Grobe...Wake really has run out of players the last few years. If they can stay healthy they can make moves next year.
 
DC: Talking about senior laden football team next season, and says gridiron Deacs also need to produce next season.
 
I feel like Dan REALLY wants to say that [Redacted] should go, but he is trying his best not to.
 
DG: Cutting out the live call in show is obviously a knee jerk reaction. Insane if you are too critical of Grobe, and respect the job he's doing and has done. He deserves a very long leash.
 
David Glenn is horrible. Grobe needs a long leash because he has turned down millions from elsewhere? WHAT??!
 
Also says RW deserves a lot of leeway due to the entire body of his work. [Redacted] on the otherhand, doesnt have that comfortableness.
 
DG defending RW & Grobe, but attacking Bz. (The guy standing next to the body with a bloody knife in hand...)
