Bill stops welfare recipients from using ATMs at liquor stores, casinos and strip clubs.

Without getting into how silly it is to waste time putting band aids on hatchet wounds, why are strip clubs any different than other forms of entertainment? Spend away at the movie theatres, bars and sporting events, but don't you dare look at bare breasts!! Am I missing something here?

"House Republicans introduced and promoted the proposal as a way to eliminate government wasteful spending."

How does this reduce spending?

Good question. Welfare recipients aren't the only people spending government money anyway.

But throw in a provision stopping government employees from using ATMs at strip clubs, casinos, and liquor stores and we'll talk.

By the way, where are all the Nevada pubs that complained when Obama made an off-hand remark about not wasting money in Vegas? They should be up at arms about this.

And before this becomes partisan bickering; "395 voting in favor and only 27 opposing."

Can we please just fire everyone and start over.

great, so now Republicans hate people who work at/for strip clubs, casinos and liquor stores. GOP = jobkillers

How are welfare funds distributed? Are they specifically on welfare debit cards or do the states distribute the money in a way of their choosing? It seems like the practical application of such a law is not too thought out, to say the least.

Seriously, Ph? Welfare recipients are getting government handouts. Government employees are working for their paycheck. Well, most of the time.

And Obama specifically called out Vegas and to the wide spectrum of all Americans, not just those receiving welfare who somehow might otherwise afford the travel and lodging from Alabama or Ohio to Vegas.

Also welfare recipients make little money, not no money.

Just found this, which makes a bit more sense. http://www.king5.com/news/investiga...ip-Clubs--Lawmakers-want-a-ban-114610089.html

A bill sponsored by Senator Mike Carrell, R-Lakewood, would ban the use of cash cards, used to distribute welfare benefits, at strip clubs, tattoo parlors, gun shops and taverns.
“As you know from your investigations last summer, these cards are being misused," said Carrell
Cash welfare benefits, distributed monthly on debit cards known as EBT cards, are supposed to be used only for the care of needy children and the disabled.

I'm not sure how accurate that is though. I thought anyone was able to get funds directly to an EBT card, not just parents or caretakers.

I'm surprised the GOP banned using them at gun shops.

Wow. So a quadriplegic can't get a lap dance now?
