Would Billy Donovan's last nine years be the second best nine year run by any coach in NCAA Men's Basketball to John Wooden's?

If he wins this year, he's have 3 Elite 8s and 3 Championships in nine years.

Also, does he leave finally for the NBA? It would make sense timing wise.

Yes?

No, Coach K from 1985-1994 would be the answer.

2 Champs, 3 runner ups, 2 final fours in 9 years (Coach K 86-94) >>>>> 3 champs, 3 elite 8s in 9 years (Donovan 06-14)

I also think 2 Champs, 2 final fours in 7 years (Denny Crum 80-86) might be more impressive than Donovan's 9 year run

edit: and Roy has an 8-year run with 2 champs, 1 runner-up, 2 final fours (02-03 Kansas, 04-09 UNC)

K had 7 Final Fours in 9 years (86-94).

K then Donovan then Crum and then Williams. Dook's run was crazy. It will be hard for anyone to replicate that again given you have to win 4 games just to get to the Final Four.

Duke had to win 4 games to get to every Final 4 they made between 1986 and 1994. If they could, why couldn't another team?

Pretty sure he's referring to teams like Wooden's UCLA teams, whose run, while impressive, is lessened by the smaller tournament in which they competed.
