JC first team All-ACC. Runner up player of the year

Congratulations John Collins.

Am dreaming John wins NCAA Championship this year AND NEXT YEAR.

Very surprised that Manning didn't fare better in the COY voting. Assume those votes were cast before last week. Also surprised that BC didn't do better given that he's 13th in the league in scoring.

BC is a bit mercurial and inconsistent, but when he is playing well, he is as good as any guard in the ACC. His shooting and turnovers have improved dramatically over the past year.

Congrats to JC.

" Jackson, Kennard and Colson are also among the 15 college players that were named to the John R. Wooden Award national ballot on Saturday. "

I know they decide a lot of players at the beginning of the season, seems a flawed process.

Also of note Kennard was unanimous 1st team All-ACC yet, Jackson and Collins were not.

I've never understood the process for this. There is no way that JC should not be among that group.

Collins finished strong.

Much like Timmy Duncan, Collins started putting up big numbers about half way into his SO year. Obviously not Duncan-esque 20/20.

First half of the season, Collins had too many Va Tech style games where he was in foul trouble.

Difference by VT game, is once he checked in early in half 2, he just Went Off for about 3 minutes.

It's outrageous that Bryant didn't get honorable mention and that Danny was so far down on COY.

And second in assists. Absolute bullshit he wasn't at least honorable mention.

Edit: I see he ended up 4th in assists. Still good. He was second much of the year behind Smith.

If JC stays another year, he will be on the ballot next season. Like any other award, one needs to be on it early to get notice. He did not and has not become a national name on a national team like UNC, Duke or ND players because he hasn't been seen.

The folks who determine the winner of the John Wooden Award should be very familiar with John Collins, regardless of what team he is on. These guys should be functioning way above a level of knowledge akin to public opinion. Runner-up POY in the best conference is boss. Stupid for him not to be under consideration.

They do that stupid thing where they announce like 50-100 Wooden Candidates at the beginning of the year and just whittle it down until they get a final 5 or 10...I don't believe they ever add any players....which is just ridiculously stupid for cases like JC.

Yea that's the stupid part we were talking about. Describing it doesn't make it less stupid.

Could probably build a national title level team from players that didn't even make honorable mention (top 25) in the ACC. Crawford, Snider, Allen, Wilkins, Hicks, Jefferson, lots of wing shooting, etc.

Surprised Jefferson didn't make HM given how much he got slurped this season.
