Marty Balin was a big part of 70s rock/pop music and it seems that hes been largely forgotten. Maybe its because he sang ballads as a member of a psychedelic rock band. Maybe its because his voice reminded you of a kindly old New Yorker. He had a couple of minor solo hits with "Hearts" and "Atlanta Lady", but his real talent was on full display with his Jefferson Starship songs: "With Your Love", "Miracles", "Count on Me", and "Run Away".

I liked his solo stuff but his work with Jefferson Starship was outstanding in my opinion.

It's songs like this that pretty much destroyed the cred he had developed:

RJ has an awesome story about hanging with Marty Balin. I wish RJ was still around.
