And, IIRC, the rule was essentially changed because NC State used it extensively in the 83 championship year. Valvano had the fouling early and often. It would be pretty illogical to think the NCAA would go back.

Similar in the NBA they had to use different rules in the last 2 minutes of the game for off the ball fouls.

The lost art, playing defense can be done without fouling.

See NC State in 1983. If you think games are unwatchable, imagine a fouls on every trip down the floor. Converting the end of the games it complete FT shooting is not very exciting.
