Is there some sort of law that English goalies, who regularly play well for their clubs, have to play poorly on the international stage?

I don't know, but watching Guzan keep clean sheets in the Copa gives you an idea of just how bad Aston Villa were in the field the past couple of years.

Hart is only OK for his club. He's not a particularly exceptional keeper, definitely not on the top level with guys like Neuer or Buffon.

Quick 5 best keepers of the tournament - Neuer, Buffon, De Gea, Lloris, Courtois. Hart isn't even close to making it on that list. He's not Akinfeev levels of terrible, but he's kind of just "a guy".

Hart is decidedly better than just "a guy". He's not one of the top 4 or 5 in the world but he's definitely in the tier just below those top keepers.

People that say it constantly are annoying BUT that is one of those free kicks where if you didn't have a wall the keeper would save it every time. It's just too far away for a wall to do anything except unsight the keeper.

That, and the english on the ball. Oops, sorry Three Lions. No pun intended.

Agree to disagree then. I've never thought he was particularly very good, or even the best English keeper.

Maybe I just picked the wrong England players.

He obviously didn't view Vardy as a front line player and went to him in desperation.

Roy keeps fucking up his team by forcing Rooney into it. If he's not good enough to start at striker, just bench him.

The Austrian TV announcers have man crushes on Rose and Walker. "The best fullbacks in the tournament".

Rooney is basically playing in the same spot as Bradley, right in front of the center defense.

England basically doesn't even have a formation atm - it's just a bunch of guys running around up front and Walker/Rose staying wide. Roy is fucking awful.
