Official US Soccer / World Cup '26 Thread (USA vs. Mexico 3/24 in Dallas)

Bring off Adams and Pulisic at half and let's finish this off with some experience for the subs.

Big fan of more goals helping our qualification and Panama having to at least draw, this second half is going to be wide open.

Stupid to still have them out there after the way the 1st half ended and knowing you have an upset team whose WC hopes have been destroyed and wouldn’t mind a cheap shot on our guys. Those 2 guys are too important long term not to mention their individual careers and they are high profile targets.

Now 9 goal diff. And CR coaches are resigned to playoff and have to plan accordingly for who they play wed. Not sure if yellows would come into play for the 4th seed playoff, but if so those players on yellow are sitting without question and would probably not risk top players like a Joel Campbell as you want to have your best healthy and ready for that game.

Gio Reyna, if he can stay healthy, and learn to the defensive responsibilities of an advanced 8, can be world class. Like top 2-3 in the world at CM, good.

That Pulisic third goal, good god

World class second touch to Meg the defender.

Please take him off Gregg. Hope is clearly gone for Panama and only bad things can happen. Going to get ugly for rest of game.

Gio Reyna giving off some Biff Tannen vibes with that buzzcut. He looks massive now.

I was wondering if it was just me but Gio looks beefed up out there. This team could do some damage in WC once healthy. D seems to be solidifying with the Robinson’s, walker and Dest when healthy and then our front 6 can be great with adams, Weston, musah, gio, puli, weah and would love to have a #9 step up as really only soft spot. Some nice depth though and guys that are very capable.

Sucks Mex won, woulda loved for us losing (by 1 or 2) to have exerted some pressure on them on Wed

what a brilliant performance last night. Puli's 3rd was just pure filth.

Zimmerman is a monster at the back. I don't trust Steffan at all tho

In today's edition of "thats the dumbest shit I've ever heard", apparently yellow card accumulation/suspension carries over to the intercontinental playoffs. Costa Rica have the following players on a yellow card:

Calvo
Ruíz
Oviedo
Celso
Campbell
Fuller
Venegas
Martínez
Jewison

If your CR, do you even risk playing these players knowing they would miss out on the all or nothing match vs. New Zealand if they see another yellow on Wednesday night? For the US, the only risk is a player seeing red, then they would be suspended for the first match of the World Cup.

Really excited about last night's win and relieved heading into CR, especially considering our injuries and stomach bugs. But in watching the post-game commentary, they were saying we just can't lose by 6+. Looking at the standings, we're +17, Mex is +7 and CR is +3 in goal differential. Shouldn't that mean we just can't lose by 10+?

We are +13, Canada is +17

because each goal counts as a goal for CR and a goal against the US, thus effectively double-counting
