Dude, her photo and name have been in elevators for as long as I can remember -- since I was in middle school, at least. More than fifteen years, probably.

Sounds like she doesn't plan to run for any elected office. Strange decision on its face, as she would surely win again, but maybe she wants to go to the private sector and make bank for a while. She is also a rumored candidate for President of the UNC system, although that seems unlikely given the make up of the Board of Governors.

The most shocking thing about that post is that it only had 1 like.
 
So the UNC system will now be led by the woman who is largely responsible for No Child Left Behind. Other credentials include serving on the board of directors of a for-profit college and a student loan collection agency. She has never worked in a university system before or had any experience in higher ed administration. She does appear to be really, really good at sucking up to Republicans, which I suppose is actually a super-critical requirement for leading the UNC system right now.
