The founding fathers were dipshits. We have the system we deserve. These Republican assholes at it again. Great system we have that people like Tuberville, Gaetz, Boebert and Marge can hold our country and military hostage.

I only posted that to show how much disarray there is. If GOP can't even come together on defense spending, how are they going to pass a rational spending plan for the Department of Education?Don’t know if I’m supposed to be upset about the Defense spending bill? If they aren’t going to cut the shit out of it then I don’t give a shit if it passes, but also I don’t want a government shut down…what a fucking mess. If 90% of these assholes decided to jump off a cliff I wouldn’t care in the least.

Wait, they won't just stall on the offer/keep the position open until this mess is resolved?Looks like I'm going to miss out on a federal job offer due to the unknown budget. So thanks for that, MAGA clowns.

ugh...that sucksI have one offer in hand and would prefer to compare it to a forthcoming offer from the VA but they don't yet know if they'll have FY24 money for the position. So I'll have to take the first offer, which is fine, just with less leverage. Also, I think the federal position would be better for my career but what are you gonna do?
But when you go to bed at night you can rest easy knowing that America has been saved from the left's woke communist agenda yet again.I have one offer in hand and would prefer to compare it to a forthcoming offer from the VA but they don't yet know if they'll have FY24 money for the position. The GOP would love to abolish the Department of Education if they could. Several GOP presidential candidates over the years have said as much. Given that they no longer care very much about governing (that is, their actual job) allowing some federal agencies to wither on the vine due to lack of funds is probably fine with them.I only posted that to show how much disarray there is. It also helps to drive away otherwise competent people from public service at the federal-level, either directly (see iptb's post) or indirectly since even the most dedicated, altruistic public servants have a limit on the bs they can put up with. The GOP would love to abolish the Department of Education if they could. Agreed, I would only add that the NC GOP has been pretty much doing the same at the state level, especially with public education. It also helps to drive away otherwise competent people from public service at the federal-level, either directly (see iptb's post) or indirectly since even the most dedicated, altruistic public servants have a limit on the bs they can put up with.
This is the more insidious, decades-long play the GOP has made against our federal institutions: demonize, degrade, and disrespect the talent pool to erode from within the agencies' capacities to function effectively.
Yeah, that’s why I chose Dept of Ed, it was a like a subtle joke about the GOP being deeply insane. The GOP would love to abolish the Department of Education if they could.
