Steve Forbes credibility watch

It might not end up meaning anything towards the NCAAT, but it'll mean something towards my opinion of Forbes if this team just continues crashing and burning or if it plays well against Clemson and in the ACCT.

I'm not ready to say Wake should fire him, but the past week and a half is very concerning to me. Particularly because it really seems like this team's problem is more mental than anything.

I know everyone on here hates K but he would’ve had this team ranked in the top 10.

I don't know about top 10 but I do feel strongly this team would be a lock for the NCAAT and possibly seeded in the top 4. I couldn't stand the man but he was one hell of a coach. Give credit where it's due.

If this was the NBA equivalent of the last week and a half, he would have been fired last night. I realize this is not the NBA, but it is still all just entertainment. Nothing more. And he is no longer entertaining to Wake's customers. I'm not sure why people feel he is owed a 5th year for some reason. He has run his course and his ceiling is well apparent. It is past time to move on. Next.

I think the staff overall would benefit from a guy who knows situational coaching. I'm not definitively saying that there isn't one on our staff now, but it's been 4 seasons of no 2 for 1s, rushing last shots at halves/games (which results in not actually getting the last shot), lack of awareness of shot clocks, and questionable substitution patterns at critical moments (some self-induced by both foul trouble and lack of depth).

Forbes can portal quite well and construct a roster, or at least a starting 5, but it takes more than that to make the NCAA Tournament based on what we've seen so far.
I understand that recruiting, and re-recruiting, is more important now than it has ever been. But if it is open and obvious that the head basketball coach does not know situational basketball coaching, that might just be an indication that he is in over his head and not the right man for the job.

all y'all dino haters caused this

we're never gonna be that good again

We were fine getting rid of Dino, even though the "culture" narrative was made up bullshit. It was the hire that followed that set us on this path.

He's not getting fired. I don't think people realize what a dumpster fire this program was when he took over.

It’s precisely because we all realize what a dumpster fire this program was that we are so insistent on getting it back to where it should be, which is in the NCAA Tournament.

Ah yes. Let's re-live the [Redacted] and Manning years. Losing to Stetson in November was so much better than being able to care about games in March. Miserable fucking fanbase.

Blowing tourney opportunities is frustrating and embarrassing, but the DFL [Redacted] season was humiliating. If it's a choice between the two I'm choosing the former every day of the week.
The MFF is the one that thinks these are our only two choices.

Forbes has been decent, which is about as good as it gets at WF. I mean, who would want to take this job that would be better??

kind of where you are. Having another end of season meltdown is very concerning

No Chris, you are supposed to post that with Forbes' overall and acc record, he has no change of being fired.

(which is true, of course- Forbes is coaching at Wake next year short of: a) someone else hiring him; or b) the shitshow he has had to deal with outside of his job makes him want to take time off- and I don't think either of those happen. But the repetitive posting in light of people having legitimate reasons for concern was a bit much).

I don’t understand the question. We won’t know if hypothetical replacement is better until they actually coach here. We could hire a HOF’er who gets here and flames out, we could hire a no-name that gets us to the tournament first year. If we could guarantee a new hire would win then we wouldn’t be on our 4th coach since Skip died. It’s not easy, but that doesn’t mean we should give up.
