The American Oligarchy

Good article on how the government and big crony capitalists collude to fleece others in order to enrich themselves. No wonder the rich are getting richer. Too bad the taxpayers wound up in the end buying those toxic loans given to "underserved" borrowers. .

Unreal that JP Morgan Chase was able to negotiate to make their fine tax deductible costing taxpayers 2.4 billion, anyone out there ever been able to write off a speeding ticket or fine before? These guys crater the world economy and get a tax break for doing it. Jamie Dimon is a gangster.

That article is infuriating on so many levels but well worth the read.

Meanwhile we throw kids in jail for small amounts of pot

I feel like a lot of the Obama hate is partisan-driven, but the handling of the financial investigations and prosecutions (or lack thereof) has been an absolute black mark on his record.

There's no reason that people shouldn't be in jail at this point.

Agreed. Sad thing is there are few politicians who would actually go after the financial sector.

Not to go all RJKarl with the Citizens United stuff - but it's really hard to get elected without a ton of cash, and that means "playing ball" with the financial sector.

This is Obama's biggest failure. He sold out to Wall Street after campaigning on hope and change and championing himself as the most progressive big party candidate since FDR.

This is the point that we should all realize that are government is beyond repair.

Kill them all and start over.

rj is completely correct on this topic

Your last two sentences contradict. It's not as simple as just replacing elected officials.

Don't you dare join the small group of "extreme" libertarians. Remember, government officials are the difference between the U.S. and Somalia.
