But tonight, the iconic diner is putting on its fancy pants to serve couples at three area Waffle House locations — one each in Gulf Breeze, Pace and Pensacola. The chain has offered the Valentine's Candlelight Dinner at select locations for five years.
Today, Waffle House managers and matchmakers are throwing red tablecloths over the Formica countertops. They're lighting the candles tableside and lowering the lights real sexy-like. Bert's chili sexy.
"Couples have been coming in here every day for years," said Steve Jackson, manager of the Waffle House on Woodbine Road in Pace. "Our customers know they can come here for a good meal, so why not on Valentine's Day?"
"Model" is definitely stretching it. She looks like a dude.
Prayer bill goes to Gov. Scott
TALLAHASSEE — A bill allowing school boards to permit student-initiated prayer and other "inspirational messages" at public school assemblies went to Gov. Rick Scott on Thursday after heated debate in the Florida House.
Supporters argued that returning organized prayer would help cure some the ills that have been plaguing public schools since it was banned by the U.S. Supreme Court. Opponents said the bill would violate the constitutional principle of church-state separation.
"Before inspirational messages were removed from our schools the number one problem was talking out of turn," said Rep. Charles Van Zant. "Today it is drug abuse. Before, the number two problem was chewing gum. Now it is alcohol abuse."
The people of Florida elected this woman to represent them.
Can't believe I'm raising a son in a city with Tampa chicks.
