I predicted we'd need 9 runs to win. Duke is very good in close games. Need more runs here. If not, don't like our chances going into the bottom of the 9th with a 1 run lead and playing on the field on which they won a ton of games.
Got news for you. Everyone ends their season with a loss except the eventual champion. So, to the extent everyone is Wake Forest. As an example, the WF Men's Tennis Team won the ACC Championship; won two matches in the NCAA tournament; and then lost to a stacked Oklahoma team that is playing for the NC tonight. Yet, somehow, it was so "Wake Forest" to lose to Oklahoma. All 63/64 teams in that tournament will lose. Guess what? Of the 10 teams in the ACC tourney, 9 will lose. Many in heartbreaking fashion. That is sports. Not unique to WF.
How WF was it for Duke to line out to end the 8th inning with a runner on third? How WF is it for Duke to have 12 hits and WF to have only 5, but to still trail by 1. That happens all of the time to EVERYBODY.
People misuse the "vintage Wake Forest" stuff, but blowing a 4-1 lead to lose when you're 9 outs away from putting away a team in a play in game for the ACCT where a win almost certainly locks up an NCAA bid? That's vintage Wake Forest. Losing to Oklahoma wasn't. Losing alone isn't something Wake has a unique grasp on but losing in the consistent style that Wake does in shocking manner? Yeah that's Wake.
