Carver-Columbus DT raves about former teammate Isaiah Crowell

Isaiah Crowell has “left the building” at Carver-Columbus High School, awaiting the opportunity to save the world at UGA.

Crowell left behind plenty of talented teammates at Carver-Columbus, which is known for producing college football prospects on an annual basis. Carver had 20 seniors sign last Febraury and expects another strong batch this year.

One of Carver’s top 2012 prospects is Derious Bennett, a 6-foot-1, 275-pound defensive tackle who said he has around a dozen offers, including Arkansas, Wake Forest, Tennessee, Southern Miss, Duke, Houston and Marshall...

Interesting combination of offers. Arkansas, Tennessee, Wake and Duke.

Excellent football player and outstanding student.

He understands...NFL means "not for long" and more and more prospects are understanding this. More and more parent(s) are understanding this.

Wake Forest's recruiting has reflected this change...it is slow, even glacial at times but year over year (with the exception of 2 classes right after the OB) Wake has continued this long range aim. Grobe is a long, long term thinker (program wise) in an age where most coaches are like politicians campaigning for their next gig.

Prospects and their families are beginning to get it...

I agree with everything but the glacial reference. The improvement in the level of recruiting through the understanding that Wake is a terrific destination has been like lighting since the 2007 season. 06' was a washout and 07' was simply a miss, but the classes have been improving every year since.

I doubt Wake will ever out talent our opponents and will need to rely on very good coaching to make up the gap, but that gap grows smaller every day.

Meant that aspects of recruiting have been glacial...most notably the OL. But, as you say, the OL recruiting has been very strong since 2008 as has most every other aspect (sans the big ugly NT).
