Wake v Dook Game Thread

These next 3 games are going to make or break our season. Go 3-0 and we're on the right side of the bubble. Go 1-2 and we're staring at a 2-7 or even 1-8 conf record at the midway point. The last 9 games are very favorable and we have a good shot to go 6-3. Need to avoid a disastrous start.

Salient point here, albeit will be controversial. Yes, we likely wouldn't have been in the game if not for Codi's contributions, especially in the first half. But this may be the first time a team game planned to take BC away (especially outside) and he didn't respond well. And he likes to have the ball in his hands, no doubt. And rightly so, as he is a great passer when he is under control.

But K was willing to pick his poison and take his chances letting Codi have his. Although I will say that 3 or 4 of Codi's layups were in the last 6 mins after Duke had pulled away and Allen let him go twice as not to pick up a 5th foul. Long story short, Danny needs to find a way for Codi to be dominant without dominating the ball too much. BC will need his touches too.

BC seemed totally out of it. His mistakes are usually trying to force something. He was an absolute non factor last night. Had not thought about Codi and the ball being in his hands most of the time. But BC also seemed to be lost when we were in half court offense.

Totally think Crawford struggled playing off the ball. He has to be a spot up shooter opposite Codi. Drving will not be a great option for a perimeter player playing opposite Codi. If Codi could hit >35% from 3, it would help. The ball has to be in Codi's hands. It doesn't work as well the other way.

I have to wonder if the 3 missed free throws at UL factored into Crawford's lack of offense. He seems somewhat fragile in terms of shooting confidence.

Check out Thornton's right hand/arm in the photo of Crawford's drive on Thornton. Should be a foul by the current directive about impeding the offensive players movement. He is making the show of how his left hand is off the player but the hidden inside arm is on BC's hip. Same type of foul that was called on DT's fourth foul.

And I'd wager to say he's been trained to do that very thing. Duke has consistently been the foulinest bunch of mofos in the conference....but gets away with it.
