See you guys Feb 8th for the next shutdown
See you guys Feb 8th for the next shutdown
Drinking on a Monday afternoon, not a good look.
Dems only leverage is the budget and they're going to give it up for nothing. Stephen Miller's neo-nazi ass is running shit now.
Only 36% of Americans feel like shutting the government down over DACA is worth it. Pubs probably feel like the next government shutdown is a win on their books FWIW.6 years of CHIP funding.
And swinging the pressure back to the GOP on DACA. Republicans can't escape the blame for the next shutdown.

Remains to be seen if this plays out positively for democrats. I fear it may not. Again trusting the GOP on anything is moronic
They don't have to trust them, the Dems have the power to shut the whole damn thing down again in three weeks unless they are satisfied with the DACA solution.
The same CNN poll that says 36% don't believe shutting down the government over DACA is worth it also shows that 84% of Americans approve of DACA, and want a favorable solution, so I'm not so sure it will be a GOP win if the government shuts down again in a few weeks over this. If McConnell gave Schumer a promise that DACA would be discussed soon and then he backs off, it's not going to be a good look for McConnell and Senate Republicans, imo. The GOP's problem is that their Trumpite base doesn't want a DACA solution, they want all these kids deported, but given how popular the program is overall (even among many urban and suburban Republicans) opposing DACA is probably not a winning issue for them in the long run, imo.
Does the GOP have even a short term path to anyone other than suburban and urban republicans as is? Donald is fucking the party and the GOP pulled its pants down to aid it.
