Chicago Cubs Thread - Playoff Push Pending

Cubs lose 4-3 to end the road trip. Montero (solo) and Coghlan (2 run) home runs account for the scoring. Split the road trip 3-3 to remain .500 on the road this year. They return home to face two of the best teams in MLB, Washington and Kansas City. Maddon should be happy. Let's see how they measure up.
 
Yep, you'll take coming home .500 from a west coast trip and gaining a half game on the Cards in the process every day and twice on Sundays. Tough time to play Arizona as well as they are playing good at the mo. Should be a fun week ahead

Harper is goddamn garbage now. Don't even worry about him.
 
Cubs lose 2-1. Bryant connects for a HR in first for the Cubs only run. Cub bats have been quiet the last several days. They need to wake up and capitalize on some decent pitching.

What's not to like?? Fowler lead off HR. Bryant crushes a 477' HR to tie it up in the bottom of the eighth. Russell has 3 hits, the last a game winning double with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth. Hendricks stays in the groove for 7 innings of one run ball. Just realized I mentioned two rookies and a soph as big contributors. It will be tough not to get excited if this continues. But for now...Cubs win! Cubs win! Cubs win!
 
That was a great game. Bryant and Harper both with homers, really good pitching from both Zimmerman and Hendricks, and an exciting walk-off win. I also loved the ESPN announcers just ripping time and time again on our bullpen - especially Rondon.

Should be another really good one tonight with Lester and Max on the mound
 
Lester looking shaky this inning. Would be huge if we could get out of the 4th only down 1-0.
 
3 homers in 3 games for Harper. Hopefully he remembers the friendly combines when he's a FA in two seasons.
 
Down 2-0. 1st and 2nd, no outs in the 8th. Bryant up and the Nats bringing in their second reliever of the inning.
 
Cubs lose 3-0. Scherzer...sometimes you tip your cap to acknowledge an outstanding performance.
