Maybe partially because Bill Clinton had a temper tantrum and trashed his hotel room after we lost the WC to Qatar? Maybe partially because we're the world's police? Maybe partially because it's the right thing to do?

My question is how do we have jurisdiction for these charges. I'd think we'd only have jurisdiction of wrongful actions taken in this country, but I could be wrong.

I think they mentioned that a bunch of the shady financial transactions went through US banks and that is why we have jurisdiction. But the Clinton hotel room thing might have played a part.

The U.S. has given itself wide ranging jurisdiction for crimes that just barely touch the country, including transactions that go through US banks or Internet providers.
