General Election Thread: Two Weeks Out

It won't matter how much of a plurality they have, it won't go blue. The red team will put enough in jail to limit the vote (just joking, but maybe).

What other state is more loyal and intense about itself than Texas? None and its not like its close.

If Latinos are going 75% for Dems and blacks are 95% Dems, you might only need 35% of whites to make it purple.

Much more important to Hillary and the Dems to win the presidency and the Senate than maximizing popular vote totals or building for the future. If they can lock down the key swing states early, especially in the Midwest, they'll go after AZ hard, but working TX for the future is too expensive and too early now.

Permanently turning NM, CO, and NV blue and AZ purple are much bigger short term priorities. Dems will pour money into TX big time whenever one of the Castros runs statewide (Senate in 2018 or 2020 or Governor later), but they're not going to heavily invest time and resources there before then.

Ann Kirkpatrick (D-AZ) is going to be the beneficiary of a ton of money flowing into her coffers. Pub primary in AZ is Aug 30 and McCain is in a heated battle with Dr. Kelli Ward and currently its a dead heat.

To your point, there's been no advertising in Texas.

Anybody in swing states seeing ads yet?

How anyone can vote for someone who makes public statements like below is beyond me:

Thank you to the LGBT community! I will fight for you while Hillary brings in more people that will threaten your freedoms and beliefs.

NM has voted for the Dem nominee in all but one of the last six elections (2004). Short of running someone from the state on their national ticket, I don't think the GOP will have a shot there nationally for a long time.

It's a pretty brilliant attempt to pit two Pub enemies against each other.

What.A.Bad Ass.

You recently said that you're supporting Trump because you're worried that Clinton may undercut certain constitutional rights that you deem worthy of protecting. You don't see the explicit threat to the First Amendment in Trump's comment?

The EC math isn't difficult, so bizarre that Trump went directly after Martinez. She didn't even openly diss him. Trump may have been trying to send a message to reluctant 'Pubs in contested states (Toomey, Kasich, Portman, Ayotte, Ryan, Walker, Johnson, Heller, Flake), but they haven't knuckled under yet. Trump doesn't listen to anyone, but the numbers are pretty clear and hardly unknown.

Mitt was a disaster as far as stagecraft went, but Trump surprisingly needs help there too. Mitt fucked up will a tiny crowd inside cavernous Ford Field and Trump's team did him no favors with a dinky ass crowd in Richmond. The optics of 250K people in Berlin for Obama in 2008 can't and won't be duplicated anywhere domestically or internationally for Trump. Can get great crowds in deep red states or riots in blue states, but he needs to reach out to and connect with swing voters in swing states.

http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2016-06-14/bloomberg-politics-national-poll-june-2016

A new Bloomberg Politics national poll shows Clinton leading Trump 49 percent to 37 percent among likely voters in November's election, with 55 percent of those polled saying they could never vote for the real-estate developer and TV personality.

Two recent polls have Johnson at 9%. Stein's below 5% in this poll. Even though Stein's votes come almost entirely from potential Hillary voters, she won't actively go after Stein since she's a minimal threat to HRC in blue or swing states. Do think her campaign will actively try to drive down Johnson's totals in select contested states. Wants one on one debates with Trump without Johnson.

Johnson will steal more from Trump than Hillary. Getting him on stage doesn't hurt her much at all.

Kind of amazed that Trump hasn't gone after Johnson harder yet. Focused way more of his ire on fellow 'Pubs than on Johnson. Trump's hosed if Johnson gets 5% of the vote in FL, OH, VA, CO, NV, NH, NC, IA, PA, MI, WI, or AZ.

Apparently the rally in GSO was a shit show
