The Presidential Debate

My hat is off to all servicemen and women as well. There is one candidate in this presidential race who's attitude toward veterans and active service members should alone prevent any American from pulling the lever for him. Zero respect for the sacrifice described on this thread. Zero. He mocks it, and compares building a building to what is described on these pages. No clue at all, and no compassion or empathy whatsoever.

Not to mention has not done any homework on foreign affairs, and boasts as much. Makes reckless offhand comments about war and WMDs that should give even the most seasoned and battle-tested servicemen the red flag to not trust this individual as CIC of the armed forces.

To put servicemen's lives in this man's hands, for spite or otherwise, is a very very bad idea.

I can empathize and sympathize that this is one of the worst feelings in the world, bkf. Telling my 3 kids (all under the age of 10 at the time) goodbye at home and then hugging and kissing my wife, with tears in both our eyes, as she left me at the terminal in Greensboro to fly to Fort Benning to deploy to Iraq for a year -- fearing that something could happen to any of us in the year to come -- was the most difficult day of my life.

There are a lot of sad George Jones songs, but "The Closing of the Door" really tears me up every time I hear it, because I know firsthand the emotion behind the lyrics "I've heard the sound of my dear old momma crying And the sound of the train that took me off to war."

My hat is off to all of the men and women (servicemembers and their families) who have lived through that experience multiple times, and keep on serving knowing that it may very likely happen again.

Thanks for sharing your story....and thanks for your service to the country during a very difficult & dangerous time.

I'm a huge George Jones fan and also love the song you mentioned. It was certainly appropriate for that situation.

Uh-oh, Hillshill guru Nate Silver is getting worried.

+1000. Can't even fathom what you and BKF must have experienced during these goodbyes. Thank you both.

So that Crooked Hillary snapchat geofilter is pretty ridiculous

Ok so point out where he has. You allege that, so back it up. Or is this one of those 2016 election "it feels right so it is, facts be damned" things?

I will not go through his twitter feed to point to his shilling, but I assure it's there. I would also suggest you take a look at a recent post of mind that quotes someone who critiques Silver. It's probably six posts ago or so.

I will not go through his feed shoo I shmoo, I will not do the work to reveal his shilling to you

Then don't allege it.

Only in this weird election cycle can you:

1. Blame somebody for doing something.
2. When called on it to seek the evidence, decline to do so and instead put the burden on somebody who called you on it originally.

Are we living in bizarro-world?

Same thing with the Trump-Lester Holt thing:

1. Trump calls Lester biased because he's a Democrat.
2. It's pointed out that he's a registered Republican.
3. Conway says it's not lying because Trump didn't know that he was in fact, a registered Republican.

I mean...what the hell is going on???

I absolutely cannot believe we are even having a discussion over this as a country. If so much weren't on the line then I would be laughing about it.

This is what is most dangerous about Donald Trump. It's not the fact that he's a raging xenophobic, narcissistic liar. It's the fact that he is praying on the weakness of uneducated Americans to make them believe that facts and what is the truth just doesn't matter. That's incredibly dangerous. When the objective truth doesn't matter, then what else is there?

If Clinton wins a close election and Trump continues to harp on the whole thing being rigged, that promotes an electorate that does not take the Presidency as legitimate. As we all know, the power of the government and authority of the government lies in its legitimacy. Continuing to state that it's not legitimate, and that it's entirely rigged, is a great way to get anarchy.

If you can't or won't back it up then don't call him that.

I stand by my statement. The man is a Hillary shill and has repeatedly shilled for her on twitter. Furthermore, look at a post of mine from about ten posts ago that is about his shilling. Thank you.

Nate Silver's a Hillshill, Nate Silver's a Hillshill, Nate Silver's a Hillshill

I know you are trolling BSF, but you're smarter than most people out there. There are people who really believe what you just posted.
