Blockchain Tech and Cryptocurrencies

Do you have the "seed phrase" associated with the series of "numbers" and letters? It should be 12 to 24 words long. Or do you have access to the wallet in which the BTC is stored on your phone or elsewhere now? If so I can help. Basically what more do you have access to than the string of numbers and letters.

And are you really sure you want to cash it in? As things stand right now Grayscale alone is buying more bitcoin each month than is being mined.

But one (two) perspective(s), but it is coming from well known investor(s) in the blockchain/crypto space. Bottom line, there are decent odds we are not at the top right now.

First off, thanks so much for offering to help! I'm at work right now, but when I get home tonight I'll look into your questions. My plan was to sell half and keep half, but I'll read a little more regarding that strategy.

PM me and I'll offer a spot of help for what you'd like to sell. In the meantime I'll shoot you a few things to consider. It is true no one ever is upset taking some profits to derisk. But the run we are in could just be getting started as well given the money flowing in via institutionals.

Thanks. I just tried to PM and your inbox was full.

What I have are paper certificates which have a Bitcoin address, a “load and verify” QR code, and a “spend” QR code.

Right now I have BTC, ETH and LTC. Any consensus on the best crypto to add to at this point? One of these or something different?

Don't think there will be any consensus. I think it is really hard to evaluate many projects in the space. Many lack much in the way of operations or operational history. We have about 80% of our crypto in BTC and ETH. Here are some other projects to consider for speculation - all come with significant risk and hopefully the potential for asymmetric reward:

AAVE - DeFi flash loans. Have a license to operate in the UK.
DOT - Blockchain that can both compliment and compete with ETH
EWT - Decentralized alternative energy market. Lots of high quality partners. Reviewed by SEC
GRT - Think google for decentralized apps
KSM - Basically a testnet for DOT
LINK - Information oracles
OCEAN -Decentralized big data
QNT - Let's blockchains and other programs interoperate (or so they claim). Ties into central bank digital currencies
RLC - Decentralized cloud computing
YFI - DeFi yield platform. Finds the best yield projects and adjusts your deposit automatically to keep it.

Put 10k in Crypto during the 2017 bull run. Rode it up to 22k then watched it collapse down to 2.8k. Happy to announce I'm back to even as of today!

Sooooo now what do I do lol

Apparently there's a dude that a few months ago went nuts and put in like 4 million on January 21st call options at like 32,000 & 36,000 in very unusual quantities. So the people that wrote the other side of those options are gonna get wiped out and/or this run up could be related to to those earlier bets. Will be interesting to see how or if the dude can sell those positions and unwind from the trade, or what happens after expiration.

The investment thread has a discussion about DOT. Something about 1000 generating 375 per day. Sounds too good to be true. What am I missing?

Where is the best place for a beginner to read/watch/learn as much as possible about cryptocurrency?

Youtube has a ton of great stuff.

Here are some down the rabbit hole type interviews to get you moving. I would note there are people who are into BTC and BTC only and then others who are into a broader mix. That's the "maximalist" vs "generalist" argument. I'm definitely in the later camp. I have well over 1/2 my crypto in BTC. But how can anyone say something like ETH or DOT won't have a big role to play in the space.
