NYC: Death of a Once Great City

You don’t think the desire to find the best mate/date and reproduce with that person is a natural trait of humanity or animals in general. This Forms the very basis of the competitive evolution of life itself.

Bro take the L your not this dumb.
Thats not how evolution or evolutionary psychology works. Humans have only been aware of genetics for a few hundred years, yet you think genetic reproduction has been a conscious motivation for all of human existence?

1. There are innumerable motivations and variables in choosing a mate, conscious or unconscious.

2. The success of genetic pairings is determined mathematically over time (millenia) not during an individual life time.

I'm still confused on who can't live in NYC - and I am not sure if people are equating just Manhattan as NYC or something. A two worker family of any kind can pretty much live anywhere in the Bronx, many parts of Queens or Harlem and some parts of Brooklyn. Are we advocating for some family that is like a one worker household with like 5 kids? I mean, its still possible, if you really want to.

I feel like this convo is that people need to be able to afford it, and it has to be safe, and it has to have good schools, and it has to be over a certain size, and it has to be well maintained, and, and, and, and. Thats not the case anywhere.

Says the guy whose name means "YesDeacs" in Russian. Aye Comrade

i dunno, the old people of the great nation sure seem to like social security, medicare and fire departments
Agreed that old people are the biggest hypocrites when I comes to using social services. We should do away with social security immediately IMO.

If you consider socio-cultural evolution, humans were socially communist far longer than we've been capitalist. Primitive cultures commonly shared everything, including mates and children.

Yeah. Capitalism is new.

And we can talk about animal behavior but we can’t be sure observed behaviors aren’t adaptations to scarcity caused by human capitalism.

but organized societies rarely do
Not being a contrarian here, but what do you consider an "organized society"? Were native American tribes not organized societies? The introduction of land ownership didn't work out too well for them.

agree on schools, only certain people should have access to the good ones

i guess that's a vote for evolutionary advantage: not-socialism, eh
