WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest landed seven players in eight positions on the 2018 All-ACC football team announced Monday by the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Sophomore Greg Dortch earned two first team honors, at both return specialist and as the all-purpose player. Offensive guard Phil Haynes, cornerback Essang Bassey and safety Cameron Glenn were all named to the second team. Three Deacons received honorable mention including center Ryan Anderson, defensive tackle Willie Yarbary and linebacker Justin Strnad.

Surprised Carney wasn't even mentioned. He's 56 yard from rushing for 1k this season. Our last 1k rusher was Barclay.

Kind of shocked that Rodney did not get at least an honorable mention as well ...

he's fifth in the acc in rushing. wonder how many were listed?

All ACC RBs:

1st team: Etienne Clemson and Dillon BC
2nd team: Ollison Pitt and Homer Miami
3rd team: Hall Pitt and Gallaspy NC State
HM: Ellis UVA

ACC Rushing Leaders:
1 Travis Etienne, RB CLEM 164 1307 8.0 70 19
2 Qadree Ollison, RB PITT 176 1134 6.4 97 10
3 AJ Dillon, RB BC 227 1108 4.9 74 10
4 Travis Homer, RB MIAMI 154 969 6.3 70 4
5 Cade Carney, RB WAKE 176 954 5.4 48 8
6 Darrin Hall, RB PITT 123 935 7.6 75 9
7 Jordan Ellis, RB UVA 189 920 4.9 75 9

Would seem like Carney got hosed. FWIW, although he was 13th in rushing yards with 792, State's Reggie Gallaspy was 2nd in TDs with 16.

Interesting note: Clemson scored 132 more points than NC State this year 546-412; yet, State had 5 All-ACC 1st teamers; Clemson had 2.

To clear some things up:

Carney wasn't on the ballot. I'm guessing nominations had to be in before Saturday's games, which is obviously flawed.
People certainly hadn't voted before Saturday's games, though. Ballots weren't available until about 10 p.m. Saturday.
Rodney was on the ballot, but the DT spots get limited with Clemson's duo, and then Willis from Miami and Walker from VT.
Sciba wasn't on the ballot either, and that shocked me. I would've voted for him for 3rd team.

Here's my ballot, for full disclosure: https://www.journalnow.com/sports/w...cle_0ced1cca-f134-11e8-a673-6fb335793a13.html

I don’t know why there needs to be a ballot especially for K.

That's ridiculous that there is nominations for All ACC. It's kind of like when Hansbrough was considered to be 4 time unanimous All ACC (or something like that) even though he wasn't

Or the jackass who didn't vote for Randolph as tourney MVP in 1995.

In this digital age it is weird that they require voting before the end of season and without the benefit of the full body of work.

I’m sure Anderson got shafted for getting HM. He’s probably a top 5 Center in the nation.

Sciba got shafted as well.

Overal, however, landing 7 on all acc and 4 of those being on the defensive side of the ball is great.

Congratulations to all. The hard work has paid off. Let these honors set an example.

Congrats guys! Carney should have been at least HM. If I had a 4th and 1 late in a game, I would want to hand it to one of two guys in the ACC, AJ Dillon or Cade Carney.

Who nominates the candidates and who is the dumbass that established vote before the season is over.

Think the ACC handles nominations. The vote after the last regular-season games are played seems like that's the way it's always been done. In normal years when State, Carolina and VT haven't had games canceled/postponed, getting the vote together while everyone has played the same number of games is probably the best formula.

I understand the frustration. I'm not trying to say Carney isn't deserving.

How many times have we had a sophomore on the 1st team?
