Donald Impeachment

People need to stop arguing with the dumbest poster on the boards. He only knows what he sees on Bretibart and such. That’s “news” to him not what actually happens.

Any chance you can provide a link to these death threats?

One would think the Blue Checks on twitter would be all over this one if their fellow firefighting journos actually received death threats.

DeacFreak is right that this has certainly actually happened a number of times, but also, do you know what the word probably means? It is one of the words you bolded in case you need it to be in context.

Jesus Christ. Angus, google it man. Jim Acosta has received them, a politico reporter received antisemitic death threats from a trumper, the MAGA bomber 07 refers to... Besides, you're ignoring the point of the post, on purpose I suppose.

I was referring specifically to the WaPo journalist who thought it brilliant to tweet out a picture of their impeachment celebration and later delete it.

Feel free to post links to the death threats which triggered he/she and forced his/her hand in sending (and later deleting) the tweet.

Of course journalists over the course of history have received death threats but that's not what was originally posted.

hannity and tucker carlson are assholes that yell and jerk off nightly to your pimp dolt 45. They celebrate his lies and push debunked conspiracy theories but a WaPo journalist does a dumb thing (dumb for posting/bragging not having an opinion) and you think its proof of something.

There's no weaker people on this planet than Angus and other Trump diehards. Just weak, sad, pathetic creatures. Who cling to guns, religion and opioids to cope with how unfair and terrible the big bad world is. Everyone is out to get them, so they'll follow anybody who tells them that they are special. Fucking losers.

plus 1 million.

Nothing in law is ever certain, and I won’t claim to be an expert on executive privilege, but, based on what I know, there is almost no chance that the dems would have lost. The absolute privilege Trump asserted is not supported by any authority other than OLC memos that lack the force of law.

OK, but if it gets to the SCOTUS, doesn't it basically come down to Roberts' opinion? You've got 4 locked justices either way and Roberts in the "middle," which is a bit of a joke because he is pretty far to the right on many issues, just not as far as the other justices. What's his record on executive power?

you know this is historic for journalists too, right. only happened 3 times in history and a good many reporters were not covering the last one. it's one of the biggest moments of their career.

there's no doubt in my mind that if Trump did the exact same things today that Nixon did he would be 1000% supported by his party and probably cheered for it

What Trump did was far worse that what Nixon did. Nixon's cover-up was minor league. Trump begged multiple countries to pervert our elections. He has taken the side of the GRU over the FBI and CIA every time he had the opportunity to do so. Trump blocked testimony of people who aren't even working for him any longer. Almost all of Nixon's people testified.

It's not even close on any level. If we had the same people in the House and Senate that we had then, Trump would be convicted and removed (I don't think he'd ever resign).

You got me man. I should’ve said “these WaPo/CNN journalists (and their colleagues).”

I don’t know if these specific people have (its a high probability, right birdman?) received harassment or death threats due to the president calling their publications “enemy of the people”, but their colleagues and friends have which was the point. Ergo, they’re celebrating personal feelings of doing solid investigative journalism that has led to a president who calls the collective “them” the “enemy of the people.” Is the overall point hard to understand for you and catamount?

But congrats on your technical win, pat yourself on the back. And keep making dem and Stacey Abrams jokes while distracting from your president who incites death threats on people at CNN, WaPo, Politico, etc with his rhetoric. Solid days work for you.

I don’t share your cynicism of the SCOTUS. US v Nixon was 8-0 (Rehnquist recused himself). I would have expected a similar vote count here. Maybe 8-1 or 7-2, but the outcome really isn’t in doubt.

Who do you think the 1 or 2 dissenters are?

Rhenquist had a bench of honorable people. We don't have that any longer. You mentioned Rhenquist recusing himself. Thomas' wife was much more that he made to lobby against ACA, yet Thomas outrageously refused to recuse himself. Kavanaugh is political hack. Alito and Gorsuch are extremists.

I'd be shocked at anything over 6-3 (maybe Alito would do the right thing). 5-4 is most likely.

I am pretty cynical and pessimistic about any conservative having any integrity or principles these days. I have no doubt that at least Kavanaugh and Thomas would vote against congress, and I'd bet Alito and Goresuch would too, which in mind brings it to Roberts, who, as I've read, has a history of support expansive executive power. Anyway, it's all a hypothetical because the Dems didn't wait, I'm just thinking that part of the reason they didn't wait is because they don't trust the courts to do the right thing.

In addition to holding the Articles of Impeachment until McConnell works his way through all the tabled bills and sets fair parameters for the trial, Democrats should also continue investigating. Then when the Senate acquits, the Democrats will be able to point to all the stuff the Republicans covered up.

Nancy should just say “Buddy the articles go to the back of the line, why the urgency on this bill?”
