2022 College Basketball Coaching Carousel

Lolz as if it wasn’t easy enough to hate them already

OMG it makes you feel so OLLLDDD when guys that played in college the same years you were there are getting HC gigs.

And don't even get me started on how it feels when college players from that same time period retire after 15 years in the NBA.

:panda:

Would like to believe that Kyle Neptune is not going to be able to maintain the momentum of Nova’s program. Wishing the same for Davis & Scheyer as well (although Davis already somewhat shot that down).

Villanova has inside info on a 37 year old coach. He’s been there and so they know.

No silly national search. No “but we have to hire a guy with P5 experience.” No “but he didn’t win last year.”

Villanova is very smart. As is Duke. Proper gyms. Proper hires. More winning.

it's going to be hilarious when scheyer stinks and then cameron will seen as the crappy little gym it is and not a cozy basketball mecca

If Nova’s gym is so great why don’t they play all games there?

From a guy who still insists we should have hired Wes Miller as our Head coach when he was a twenty something assistant at High Point.

Yes and that clearly would have been a better choice than the route we followed. He has outperformed wake since that time. Will be interesting to see if he can make the tourney in year 2 at Cincy, unlike Forbes year 2 at Wake.

Wright retiring and Nova hiring Neptune would be like if Coach K retired after Johnny Dawkins' first year at Stanford and Duke hired him.

You keep saying this, but to say Forbes’ first year was a real year is disingenuous

To be fair, Wes was dealt kind of a shit hand at Cincy for his year 1, as well.

Zac Taylor was on the Wake Scout Team when I was there and he’s an NFL Head Coach.

Please go to the Duke message board. The obsession with Duke, small gyms and young coaches got old long ago.

Oh come on. There's no comparison between the basketball program Forbes came into at Wake vs the program Miller got at Cincinnati. Wake had been an absolute miserable program for 12 years. Forbes would have won 1,000 games his first 2 years at Cincy.

It will be exciting to see the immediate improvement at duke and nova after shitcanning their washed up old man coaches for young guys who will automagically be better right away.

I did not realize Jim Calhoun retired from Division III St. Joseph in Connecticut.

His first year he went 16-12 and then his second year he went 26-3/11-0 in conference. Then Covid hit and they've only played like 5 games since and he retired last fall.

Coaching matters.

Multiple NCAA titles fall 2021/active coaches:

1. Coach K - retired
2. Jim Calhoun - retired
3. Jay Wright - now retired

4. Bill Self (2)
5. Rick Pitino (2)

Assume Pitino retires in the next 2-3 years.

Calipari only has 1.

Boeheim with 1.

Crazy the old guard is gone/leaving. Door would be wide open to build a Wake Forest dynasty ala Wooden at UCLA!
