Latest from MTOW, 2 Much to Ask?

so you want to bet me on this? if bzz wins only 4 games, i bet he gets fired. since the odds are against me because of wellman, lets say 5-1. I'll bet 10 bucks.

I think a four win season---and the false idol of promising recruits---is enough to keep him in the eyes of RW. You think RW really fires him, or would he go down with the ship (and if so, who exactly is going to sink that ship)?

Seems like a 180 from his post-Seton Hall column stating in effect that there was no evidence to support keeping Bz beyond this season. Guess somebody in the AD got to Dan....

Agreed. Take this for example:

All that said, [Redacted] still has to win games to earn his keep. He knows it. Ron Wellman knows it. Everybody knows it. The next four games -- at home against Virginia and Boston College and away at Clemson and Virginia Tech -- all appear there to be had. It the Deacons win two or three of those, and play well enough over the remaining regular-season schedule to prove they can give-and-take with the rank-and-file conference teams, then there's no way Wellman is going to pull the plug. Nor, in my mind, should there be.
------------

Would "give-and-take with the rank-and-file" count as the type of statement wins Dan was saying Bz didn't have only a few weeks ago?

I'm a smart gambler. If you really disagree, go ahead and "take" my money. C'mon, you know you want to do this...

Judging by those odds, you're not very certain I guess.

I'll let you know, if we only win 4 games.....because Bz will be evaluated on more than the W-L record. If we crater big time vs an unranked team like we did vs NCSU last year....bye bye. 6 Ws might not save him then, depending on who it is.

And I agree....it's sort of 180° from earlier in the year.

(Please read this in a nonconfrontational tone). I don't think anyone places a smart bet on Ron Wellman being self-aware about this hire.

I'm just going to call him "preacher" from now on. Why he should care that I think Bzz is the wrong man for the job is beyond me.

This. What an annoying, ironically whiny waste of digital ink.

"Here's my opinion on why other people shouldn't have fully formed opinions yet!" Longview, my skinny Irish ass.

It sounds like Dan is giving himself an escape hatch by placing a lot of emphasis on our next four games. If we go 1-3 or 0-4 over the next two weeks...

Virginia and BC both played very well this past weekend.

"Next four games" is a funny looking long-view.

Yep. The condescending editorializing about fans is my main problem with Dan.

"It's not okay to want Bzzz gone until I say so. Because I'm longviewed like that."

Don't worry S.Mitchell wil be a freshman in Bz's fifth year and the Cuse,Pitt,ND and L'viile will have joined the party. I see no reason to panic. Bz vs. Pitino should be a fair fight. At least Dan will have lots to write about.

That's what I thought, but Dan wrote it as a conditional sentence. However, when you put the next four games with the other 2.5 years he's been at Wake, that "view" is certainly "long" enough to have a "fully formed opinion".

BuzzOUT! till he's gone...

I think there is more to it than Mitchell's commit. The last few games the team has looked better. Granted the competition other than Duke was very weak, but we were not an abomination against Duke. It's sad that I'm so used to us being an abomination that I can now see Dan's point. That said, every time Jason Williams told us Wake fans on the broadcast "to be patient" and how great Bzdick is, I wanted to punch him on the face. I'm Bzzout - I have no faith this man can get the program where it needs to go, but am now scared that some of the progress the team is showing could end up saving his sorry ass. I agree with Country Dan - let's see how the rest of the season plays out and hope it's just barely bad enough to rid us of this bull shit.

Maybe the commitment is what's causing me to scratch my head about what to do. Of course none of us are in a position to do anything about [Redacted].

I'm guessing Dan was threatened with having his media creds pulled.

The article reads like Dan has no real point to make, but felt obligated to write a column on the Bzdebate.

Progress is good. Beating some bad teams, (and are next 4 games are against bad teams) is not enough progress to warrant keeping a job. Especially how low he has taken us to begin with.

That column is dead on. A clear-eyed look at where we are and how silly the #buzzhate crowd can be in their worst. Dan landed solid punches on Wellman and #buzzhate, both of which were merited.

#buzzhate is a thing?

What is another 2 months? A wasted season for sure, but these have been wasted years. On March 7th, I expect Dan to lead us, with pitchfork in hand ,to Wellman's office.

what?

you know the regular season ends on March 10th and then we still have at least one game in the ACC tournament right?

You do realize that Duke could have beat us by 35 to 40 points if they wanted to?
