Facebook Gold from Crazies

Tebow has gotten more media attention than any college or pro football player in a long time. Now that I think about it, probably my lifetime. Maybe Joe Namath got this kind of attention. I don't know. He has been given plenty of opportunities to talk about his faith and spread the gospel through sports and mainstream media outlets. Even when the talking heads are saying he should shut up, guess what? They're engaging in an extended dialogue about his faith that provides more publicity for his broader mission.

I've never seen a TV broadcast cut away when a player thanks his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a game. I've seen numerous edited interviews in which Christians talk about God. It's a ridiculous point of argument for Christians. The fact that Tebow getting cut which should be a non-event is even close in media hype to the first gay male major pro sports athlete coming out is evidence of how much attention media has given Tebow.

how would the White House contact someone who was killed?

Well said. Everyone wants to be a persecuted minority.

If any single group could be banned from Facebook, I think I'd cast my vote for moms without hesitation. They're the worst.

When I heard about Pinterest, I thought the problem would just take care of itself. Ends up moms can use multiple social media platforms.

Here are the responses to that photo:

- What's funny is nobody cared who Jason Collins was before he came out. Now he's the most popular person in the country. I even heard someone last night compare him to Jackie Robinson as if being black and being gay are one and the same. Sick world we are living in.

- With an average of 3 points and 3 rebounds per game he will be back to being a nobody as soon as his 15 minutes are up.

- Can't they both be heroic?

- I wouldn't call him a "hero".

- What is heroic about being gay?

- Hero may be a stretch, but that's just semantics. It was certainly courageous to come out, though.

- Barry and Moochelle will do anything to advance their political agenda....only reason they support the LGBT community. I would love to see the O's reach out to the family of the Benghazi victims. When do you think that will happen?

What's funny is nobody cared about Benghazi before the Sept 11 attack. Now conservatives won't shut up about it.

Definitely hot, but I'm not sure model sitting on a private plane is considered "girl next door".

So should Obama congratulate the heterosexuals as well for being attracted to members of the opposite sex? Why is Jason's sexual orientation more important than anyone else's? Besides, the Bible says it's a choice, not something he was born with. I don't see why he should be applauded for living a sinful lifestyle. It's not admirable. You'd think he discovered world peace or something by the way people are reacting.

When has any reporter ever walked away from Tim Tebow?

Exactly. It takes a staggering amount of cognitive dissonance to get to this point.

Obviously not the thread for this topic, but I started to do some looking in to Christianity and this martyrdom/persecution complex...it's pretty much existed since the inception of the faith. So I guess many of these people are just being true to form, in a sad sort of way.

In all fairness, that was 100% justified for the first 300+ years of its existence so that foundation was laid in reality.

There is a difference between those actually persecuted and martyred, and those who think they are. Christianity has not handled being the majority well at all.

A good number of theologians and historians disagree (many saying Christian persecution was vastly overstated)...but again, I'm not trying to derail. Someone can start a Pit thread if it's worth discussing.
