My dad is a doctor with a very impoverished clientele so I asked him in lieu of buying me anything for him to find a family and give them a great Christmas. He wrote me a letter describing the tough situation the family is in and how they reacted to receiving the presents. It got me in the feels pretty serious yo.
I've been thinking very deeply about this since you posted it. I'm going to do this next year. I'm at the age where gifts aren't really that important, hell if I want something I can just go purchase it. There are tons of people out there who need stuff more than I do.

A new recliner and mini-fridge for the man-cave
Some nice polo shirts
New shoes
Best Buy gift cards
PJ's
T-shirts/underwear
Blanton's Bourbon
$Cash$

And for the first time of my existence, I received NO socks. Actually one of the few things I needed lol

Camping knife
New toolbox
Book about cooking fish
Leather man multitool
Chef knife

But now I have to buy myself a new TV as the old one blew its HD tuner 2 days before Christmas.

That's kind of where I am. Also, as a parent I can't imagine not being able to provide some gifts for my kids. I try to put myself in the shoes of someone that really has nothing and how tough it would be to feel like I was depriving my kids of what kids should get, the excitement of Santa Claus and the opening of presents on Christmas morning. Even if it was for just one family and one year, it felt pretty damn good.

The stomach flu.

Finally about to open some presents...

Had this last weekend. Never threw up but had the rest of it.

I got some baking pans, a casserole dish, some Redskins stuff, new John Grisham book, and some cash.

I feel you. All I did was puke, so I guess that's ... good? Definitely one of those "someone just end me now" type of things.
