Clawson just said on his radio show that they want to redshirt him. Says he missed a lot of time in preseason and that's put him behind the other guys. Says he's changed positions from last year as well. Interesting...

Also said he needs to get stronger and is learning more than 1 of the receiver positions.

What position has he changed to?

Said he probably should've redshirted last year. Shot at Grobe and staff?

not necessarily... I seem to remember Grobe said at some point that they were playing him before they really wanted to.

By all accounts Clawson likes Grobe a lot so I don't really think he's the type to take a shot at Grobe in a public way like his radio show.

He didn't catch a pass at Army. He caught one for seven yards at Clemson, one for nine yards against N.C. State, six for 49 yards against N.C. State and six for 96 yards at Miami.

"We've been waiting for some other guys to do that,'' Grobe said of Harris' performance at Miami. "But it's nice when a true freshman says `Hey I'll do it. Nobody else wants to do it. I do.'

"We didn't know early. We didn't do much with him early, in August and in the early season. Then we kind of got forced into it because of injuries to other positions. And we're hoping we didn't waste a year.

"But all of a sudden he's just kind of come out, which is cool. It's nice to see right now

I hope Tyree is good with this because it will benefit him and the program. We know he has talent and this will give him a chance to get stronger. Also helps balance out the wr class.

what. a. donk.

This isn't a bad thing. If Tyree doesn't have it, he'll have time to get it and get 3 years to show it on the field. If he doesn't want to do the work, Clawson gets another scholarship.

I agree. Clawson sees something in him and is willing to invest in him. It's not a bad thing at all.

I think it's a great thing. It had been speculated that Harris hadn't bought in and was the coach's dog house. It doesn't sound like that at all. Clawson said Tyree was hurt in preseason, missed time and got behind on learning the offense and really needs to get stronger. Said he probably needed to redshirt last year, but Clawson sounded very high on Tyree and said he thought he could be a real "high end" player for us.

What position has he changed to?

I think his primary position is the S-receiver, but I suspect that he is also learning the Z-receiver (slot).

Right now Scott and Armstrong are the Z-receivers and Crump and Terry are the S-receivers.

Definitely agree with this. I thought Clawson was very complimentary.

Good news imo. I was hoping this would happen (since he wasn't seeing playing time).

I agree as well. Tanner and Camp had 3 years together and were the only special thing about our offense for the last two. We're losing 3 seniors who are ahead of Tyree on the depth chart, next year we'll have JW, Claude, and Tyree playing most of the snaps. Wolford should be happy with those WRs to throw to, as well as some stud TEs.

It's amazing how many WF fans have trashed Jim Grobe since he left.....a coach that took us to heights never reached before and which are unlikely to be reached again. This is a man who won far more games at WF than any other coach we have ever had in the 60-year history of the ACC. When Clawson eventually leaves WF, I would be surprised if he has won even half as many games at WF as Jim Grobe won here.

I am still a Jim Grobe fan and will forever appreciate what he did here. He's a top notch person and represented Wake Forest as well as anyone could ask. However, I don't think there is any debate that he let things go his last few years. Sub par recruiting, his reluctance to replace poor performing assistants, and his general attitude of being a figure head instead of a hands on head coach, all led to the downturn we saw with the program. Now, I don't think it's all this fault, I think there's probably a lot of truth to lack of support from the AD when it came to things needed for the program other than the shiny new video board. However, it was time for a change and however Clawson's career plays out here, we should be thankful we were able to get such a good young coaching candidate. I think because of the success Grobe had, it raised the profile of the program enough, that a coach like Dave Clawson would look at it as a great opportunity. It still doesn't change the fact that whether it was because he was tired, discouraged, or whatever, Jim Grobe was no longer doing the job we need our head coach to do and it was time to move on.

I think this is a good and fair summary of how most Wake football fans feel.

Quit copying and pasting your own posts, old man. You are better than that.

When you were a kid, you walked uphill barefoot two miles to participate in the local sandpaper circle jerk - and not the smooth shit the kids use now to circle jerk with - the rough kind. And then walked the two miles uphill back home barefoot to be beaten by your father with his belt because, well, frankly you deserved it and thanked him for it afterwards.
