BBall Recruiting Thread 2k16- SJM, Washington, Childress & Mitchell sign NLIs; 2017?

A kid commits to a school as well as a coach. They don't owe him anything and certainly don't need to see him in a rival uniform torching them regularly. Keep in mind, he's choosing to leave, although that position is completely understandable in this case.
If he has a great relationship with coaches remaining, this still goes both ways, as he's walking away.

He will have plenty of schools to choose from outside the SEC. I wouldn't blame Florida for not releasing him. It isn't as though they are sentencing the kid to a death sentence. He signed with both the coach and the school, and I think it would be understandable if the school felt as though he should honor his commitment even without Donovan. If he doesn't want to honor it, he doesn't have to, but it will just limit some of his choices. Seems fair to me.

Florida could conditionally release his LOI but it'd be redundant with the SEC rule.

The SEC has the automatic "2-yr, no scholarship" policy that applies to anyone who signs financial paperwork but does not enroll or fails to complete a semester of work at the school. So basically, unless the SEC Commissioner gives him a waiver, he automatically cannot go to another SEC on an athletic scholarship for 2 years. One of the components of the commissioner's review of the case is the previous school's opinion on the player going to another SEC school, so UF could tell the commish (behind closed doors) that they don't want the rule waived and then the player most likely won't get the waiver.

Every time I see these kinds of lists posted, I think "one of these things is not like the others..."

Kid probably heard that UF is no longer the second best program in the SEC. Mydeaconmyhand wins again.

Caleb Swanigan decommits from MSU. Maybe looking at Cal Bears.

Yeah, I just read about Purdue. It said he lives with a former Purdue football player.

His Wake offer disappeared after Collins and Moore committed, but Kyle Alexander committed to Tennessee. I think he will prove to be a nice last minute pick-up for Barnes and the Vols.
