BBall Recruiting Thread 2k16- SJM, Washington, Childress & Mitchell sign NLIs; 2017?

Also, i just checked with someone and McEwen is still scheduled to visit GT on Sept 11th. The October date was before he changed all his visit dates.

The simple truth of the matter is we do not know who else is in the pipeline.

Getting a 3rd guard in this class is a luxury not an absolute must though.
Agree. It seems to me that Koby is very similar to Crawford. He's not a shooting guard from what tape I've seen . We are not desperate for another guard with Crawford, Wilbekin, Woods, Chill and Washington. How many guards do you need?

Don't you think rival recruiters are emphasizing our depth at guard to recruits? Chill isn't chopped liver you know, and Crawford was a more highly rated recruit.

Only Crawford looks like a strong ACC starter on that list.

Spot-up shooters are pretty useless if no one can get them open. We need another playmaking guard.

I'm pretty sure rival recruiters are emphasizing our complete irrelevance over the last 5 years more than worrying about or wasting time on any specifics of our roster composition.

Slow your roll there bub, Crawford has yet to play a second in ACC play, nor has BChill or Woods and yet you can pronounce them as either fit or unfit? You ought to rename yourself Kreskin

BBall Recruiting Thread 2k16 - Koby (8/28) & Giles (9/19) visiting! #VIBES

We need another guard that can create off the bounce. Crawford should be able to. Chill can to an extent. We need more than 2 on the roster.

It does give me a little comfort that Woods shot 35 more 2s than 3s last season, so maybe he can create a little as well. Haven't seen him in action yet so I'm a little hesitant to put him on the list.

To read ESPN's scouting report on Woods in high school, he wasn't a great shooter. It's a good sign that he had already turned himself into a conference leading 3 point shooter by his freshman year.

"Keyshawn is a strong and athletic wing who can get to the rim in transition and finish through traffic. He's more of a slasher than shooter in a halfcourt setting. He attacks defenders and can finish through contact. While not a great shooter, he can make open shots with time and space. Very good perimeter rebounder and he's a multiple position defender. Great motor and a competitor on both ends."

I'm always amused by the amount of focus given recruiting rankings. It seems to me the level of involvement of "quality" programs with a recruit says far more about the recruit than anything else, but even then there's a feedback loop that leads to a high correlation between HE programs and rankings. Has anyone ever done a statistical analysis recruit rankings versus real world performance? When you exclude the top 10 rated players, I wonder how effective rankings really are...

Pick a recruiting class 5-10 years ago. Go down the list and note which players you've heard of. As you go down the list, you remember fewer and fewer players.

The involvement of quality programs informs the rankings.

Actually, the new RSCI on Basketball Reference makes it easy. College stats are linked for all players. Those with NBA stats have a link for their name. You can easily see the disparity between the top and bottom of the list.

Except our 2 2016 recruits' offer lists are just as concerning as their rankings, if not more so.

Washington was starting to gain heavy interest from California, VCU, Texas Tech and Cincy. Thats solid. That doesnt worry me.
