Well said. And I suspect that it lends itself to multiple abuses in both recruiting and competition. When businesses are directly invested in college athletes and college teams there is a peculiar "need" to win and to do so at all costs.

The talent historically in our top 75 was not as good as everyone makes it out to be. I was actually surprised at the list.

Yeah, it was only good enough to make us consistently one of the Top 25 programs in the nation, with a good amount of time spent in the top 10 and top 5, and at #1 over the course of Odom, Skip, and Dino's careers at Wake.

Despite the Buzz error, since Odom started in 1989, Wake is still ranked #22 in Top 25 appearances, #23 in Top 10 appearances, #25 in Top 5 appearances, and #23 in #1 appearances. For the more recent years during which Skip and Dino coached, Wake was #15 in Top 25, #15 in the Top 10, #17 in Top 5, and #15 in #1 appearances. 4 of the teams (UNC, Duke, Pitt, Cuse) consistently ahead of us in those rankings are in the ACC, and Louisville hovers right around where we are. So, that leaves less than 10 jobs that would be steps up that aren't in the ACC.

No one from last year's team starts on like a 5-seed NCAAT team. CMM and Devin would be like #6 options, Dinos a #6/#7, and Crab and Wilbekin like #9/#10 options.

Feel like the prospect of State pulling in DSJ, Bam and Adkins is going to compel Harry to go to Dook so he can have a triumvirate of his own (Tatum and Jackson?) to bring into battle. Although I kinda like the idea of a HG3-Collins-Moore 3-headed monster in the Wake front court for some epic late 80's / early 90's -esque battles in the ACC paint.

Come on Harry! Get just one of your boys to join you and let's do this damn thing!!

Maybe, but why would you want a shooting guard who couldn't shoot to be your third option ? I mean your first and second options in that scenario would probably be a post player who would kick it out to the open SG to nail a three pointer (not suited to CMM) and a PG who is going to have the ball in his hands and isn't going to pass it to someone else to try to beat people off the dribble.

Devin would be a good complementary post player if paired with a halfway decent center.

I meant options in the half-court offense. Codi could be a weapon in transition but a top-4 option in half-court sets? Nah. Devin's way too careless with the ball and doesn't shoot FTs well enough. But he can board, so OK, he could be a 5th starter.

So we went from starter on a tournament team to starter on top 5 seed tournament team to a top 4 player on a top 5 seed tournament team to a top 4 half court offensive player on a top 5 tournament team.
