For me it's the Black Keys opening for Beck before the Black Keys were the Black Keys.

Foo Fighters @ Austin City Limits. Coincidentally they are my favorite band so I guess that played into why I enjoyed it a lot.

At the festival, or the TV taping (which just re-aired this weekend)?

For me, Pearl Jam November 1993 in Oklahoma City. It was about a month after Vs. was released. 1st of about 12 times I have seen them live.

Janes Addiction 1992, New Orleans. Mary My Hope opened and the show was ethereal. Various Tool, Social Distortion, and Dropkick Murpheys shows are close behind.

Festival

But the tv special looked like it would have been a lot of fun to be at. I like smaller concerts more than huge ones.

Muse and its not even close. They're retarded good in person.

I was at ACL this year, and they had 5-6 tapings for the TV show while I was there. Of course, I was oblivious about this until the day before we left.

The Who in 2000 in Atlanta
Phish at the Electric Ballroom in Knoxville around '94 or so
Rush in Greensboro in '86 w/ Blue Oyster Cult
Pink Floyd-Dean Dome around '87 whenever they first came back sans Waters
Van Halen on the recent reunion tour with Roth - front row
Fishbone at Ziggy's one time in the 2000s
Cheap Trick at HOB in Myrtle Beach about 4 years ago
Dixie Dregs at Ziggy's around '92 after meeting the band and sound check
Steely Dan a couple of years ago in Raleigh
I'm sure I'm leaving some out

Sting in 1999 and Aerosmith in Las Vegas in 2002. I've seen both live since and neither lived up to these respective shows. Easily the top 2.

Korn at the Joel a couple months ago was one of the best I've seen in a good while. I've been to maybe 10 concerts the last 4 years and none really stand out.

U2 in Raleigh a couple of years ago.

Peter, Paul and Mary at Wolf Trap several years ago. It was a great concert, but it was also the first time I was able to take my parents somewhere they really wanted to go. My dad passed away the next year, so it was special.

I was at these shows.

Wilco at Koka Booth in Cary. Not a fan of Koka Booth but the show was amazing that night. They did a killer performance of Spiders (Kidsmoke) and I'm the Man that Loves You.

The Phish reunion shows in March '09 in Hampton, Va. will probably have the most lasting memories for me. I've been to way too many concerts to try and pick out the best one. The Offspring at Ziggy's in '97 was pretty damn good. The five Rolling Stones shows I've seen were awesome, too. I love going to concerts, definitely my favorite way to spend disposable income.
