Notre Dame

Wake opens as 26.5 point underdogs.

Don't have the cash for this one plus why is N.D even on our schedule-let them join the Big 10.

Thanks Reff. Where'd ya park ?

Hondo, just drive around near the stadium. Lots of nice folks let people use their yards and don't charge too much. Really close to everything and that way you can get out a little easier to go to dinner. We found a couple real nice family run Italian places for both Friday night after the pep rally and Saturday night after the game that hit the spot and didn't cost an arm & a leg. We were staying in Valpo, which was a little cheaper vs right in South Bend, but what was confusing was one was Central & the other Eastern and only 60 miles apart.

Thanks. We're staying in a Marriott right off I-80 only about 40 minutes from ND. ND says general public parking is in a big field just north of campus with shuttle busses. Gonna try your suggestion first upon arrival.

Been there , done that. Once was enough. South Bend is a village in the middle of thousands of miles of corn. Stay in Chicago.

Not me, don't care nothing about going to a glorified dump of a stadium to see us get our ass kicked.

I am no great lover of Notre Dame, but their stadium is not a dump. It is a first class facility, and they really do it right there.

Been on the campus twice but off-season. ND is truly in the middle of nowhere surrounded by corn fields and South Bend proper makes W-S look like Charlotte.

Agee. First time I visited a buddy and I went over to the stadium and as luck would have it, the gate to the famous player entrance tunnel was open. So we went in and stood beneath the goal post and took in the view all players see. Very earie I tell ya....particularly when a breeze blew up and we both swore we heard voices behind us in that old tunnel. Maybe the dang place is haunted by the ghosts of Rockne and the Four Horsemen:eek:

It just looks very plain to me. I mean I know there's tons of tradition there, but as far as the stadium itself what's so special?

Completely overrated place. Most ND fans pull for Ohio State in basketball - it's like UNC of the midwest.
A crew of about 12 stayed in Chicago, bussed it down for the game, we were back in the parking lot by halftime.
Out of all of the people that we spoke with, never saw or met an actual ND grad or alumni.

Well, seems like the stands are close to the field and the pitch lends to good viewing. AIR, this place was patterned after Michigan's Big House - they look nearly identical. I believe remodeling/additions to NDS are underway and believe new video boards/FieldTurf have been added since that photo date. Recall Kelly telling Grobe/media post-game how impressed he was with Deacon Tower and the Video Board after the visit to BB&T. Dang we came close that memorable night....two stinking red-zone turnovers in the 4th Q were killers.:tear:

BTW, our/Wake tix are in that upper/brownish section in the sunlight in that photo.

As always....GO DEACS !

Yep, much like the Orange Bowl the TO's killed us. I'm sure I would think it was a great experience and all, maybe I'll go sometime when hopefully we're fielding a really competitive team. Knowing we really have no shot would kill the experience for me.

im in section 114

Me too. I'll be with my Wake grad son and wearing a black WF baseball cap with the gold brim and of course a black WF sweatshirt. If you hear/see a big guy with a two-fingered whistle that's me....GO DEACS !

I know live, me too. Just want to see us surprise them early somehow, fight like hell to make them earn it and keep it under 50 points. As a player, only way to go into this is ALL OUT with your best shot. I think we're better than Umass so maybe....:dancindeac:

I would totally trade a loss on Saturday for a win against them tonight.

I went with a small crowd last time for the first time. I was unimpressed with the town of South Bend. We stayed there the first night; then got rooms in Chicago for the second night.

That is like saying you go to a game at Clemson or Auburn and come away unimpressed with the towns of Clemson, SC or Auburn, AL. So what. You are going to game for football, the stadium and all the history. You take in all the game weekend stuff the first time, just because. We went to Chicago on Wednesday for all the tourist stuff, then stayed in Valpo on Fri/Sat so we could take in all the Notre Dame ambience. I didn't go there for the town, although we did find 2 nice Italian places to eat.
