Official Week 11 NFL Thread: Jets SUCK, Matty Ice a DONK

Is it ruled that because he was going backwards the forward progress trumps the oob? Or is that only on a tackle?

Is there some weird rule about falling out of bounds that I don't know about? Why wasn't the clock stopped there?

they said he was down in bounds except he was never touched and the ref was standing 3 feet away and that same ref didn't see the catch the play before and fucked up the 1st down call a few plays before that

Surprise, surprise.

Pretty sure if a player goes OOB on his own while going backwards the clock runs. Not sure that was the case there though.

ah that's what they're saying but that's still bogus cause he was kinda going sideways

Yeah it was p close. Probably the right call but kinda cheesy, especially since he did it on his own.

I'm sure Sammy Watkins just once an explanation from the ref.

former NFL ref and ESPN rules guy:

In that situation the clock must be stopped and that is an officiating mistake......

@RefereeJimD
If a player is trying to get out of bounds and goes sideways., backwards or forward at that point in game....you stop the clock!

Yeah if there was a tackle that pushed him back, run the clock. On his own going a few degrees backwards, stop the damn clock.

I only watched about 1/2 the game but my #hottake is that as of today MY CATS would smash both of these teams

That being said, a few more injuries for the Patriots would be cool.

Yeah, like if Brady lost his throwing hand in a sawmill accident.

the pats are in F U mode guys. when they get caught it really pissed them off.

I mean..... The pats are getting injured and worse, the Panthers are getting better and better

Coincidence?!?!

A true team of destiny has emerged and it's lead by funions

Hats off to the Pats. Bills just aren't good enough. As bad as Manuel is, I don't understand why an obviously injured Tyrod Taylor stayed in the game that last drive. I also thought the shot Hightower took to injure Taylor was cheap (well after he'd thrown the ball).

The refs were horrific last night and most obviously on the "inadvertent whistle," but it's hilarious to assume Amendola would have gone the distance. Tirico, the Brady jock sniffer, started it and the media took the thought and ran. The Bills had a deep safety downfield and he'd already stopped after the whistle. Moreover, Darby would have easily caught Amendola (as proven by ESPN Sports Science below). Saying it cost the Patriots a 70 yard TD is ridiculous, though it obviously cost them a big play.

And the catch still stood when I'm not sure it should have and the Pats got FIFTEEN (thought it was five at first) extra yards with the Ryan penalty. And they won. And the Watkins call at the end. And they're cheat cheat cheaters.

Other than that, they should bitch away

By rule, it should have been replayed as the whistle occurred before the catch was made. As for the penalty on Rex - complete make up call as coaches do what he did a dozen times each game. The Watkins call was atrocious. All that said, if the Bills were competent offensively, they would have won that game. The defense played great and only a fumbled punt kept us from being in it. Hats off, again, to BB. Best coach in the league, maybe in NFL history.
