About 2 months ago Verizon service at our office starting dropping calls and having crappy reception the rest of the time. Their customer service has just absolutely sucked. Alltel had great roaming service everywhere. I am ready to switch carriers. Anyone in the Raleigh Area have success with any other carriers and are they offering good deals now. Thanks in advance for your help!

They all suck in their own way. I have had Sprint for years because Cingular didn't work in my house when I moved into it in 2001. No real issues with Sprint, and I love their cheaper data plans.

With that said, while I usually have no coverage issues, if you venture too far from a city or a highway with Sprint, you'll often have no service. Data service gets spotty out there too. For example, if we go to a concert at Time Warner Pavilion in Raleigh, I have data service in the parking lot but usually nothing once I get inside the pavilion itself.

I like Sprint, but like all providers, the answer is really going to depend on your usage. If Verizon just won't work try Sprint. I am pretty sure they still have a 30 day window where you can back out if it won't work.

my iphone on verizon used to run apps/interwebs really well when not hooked up to wifi. Now it pretty much won't do any shit like that unless hooked up to wifi. It sucks, especially with maps and when wanting to google something quick on the road. anyone else? any fixes?

My Verizon iPhone was terrible with download speeds, or really any internet usage.

I am in no way a technophile, but I would recommend looking into Virgin Mobile. LadyDeacToy had an old flip phone from Verizon for years and wanted to upgrade to a smartphone (he was long out of his Verizon contract).

We went to Best Buy and he got a Droid-based phone (can't remember the model...maybe LG Optimus V?) with Virgin Mobile. He pays like $39 (including taxes) per month that includes unlimited web, data, email, and texting with 300 anytime minutes. $10 more per month for 1000 anytime minutes and $20 per more a month for unlimited minutes ($55 all inclusive).

Virgin uses Sprint's network, so if you can get decent Sprint reception then you can get decent Virgin.

If he had gotten that same plan through Verizon he would be paying at least $85-90 a month. Also, Virgin has month-to-month payments, so you're not locked into a contract if you ever want to switch.

I have to wait til November when my two year contract with Verizon is up but will probably look into switching.

You can't get the fanciest or most recently release phones (or iPhone) with Virgin, but the phone he has does enough for me.

Had to pull up an old thread to bitch about Verizon.

I currently pay $45 for 3GB data and pay $65 a month total ($20 line access).

They keep calling or sending me texts that I can upgrade to 4GB for only $5/month. I go to complete this amazing deal.

They drop my VZ Cloud storage from 25GB to 5GB, and double my line access from $20 to $40, so my bill jumps from $65 to $95 before taxes with the only additions being 1GB more a month and rollover data (which was part of the appeal of the whole upgrade).

How does that make any sense?

Straight talk through wal-mart. $45/month unlimited everything. If I use over 5 gb data is does slow up some. If you go auto refill you can drop it to $42.

Chatted with an agent and now a brand new note appears at the top of the screen that says "Lines that have the promotional 25GB VZ Cloud feature will keep this promotion when you switch to the new Verizon plan."....she's working on keeping the line access at $20. Would be embarrassing to bitch and then have it resolved 20 minutes later

Wireless has exceeded cable companies for being the most obscenely expensive bill I pay every month.

And a loyalty bonus gets us back down to the quoted $70/month price.

I need to stop complaining before I know it can't be fixed.

Planning to ditch Verizon for Google Fi in October when the new Nexus (Pixel) comes out.

I've had Sprint forever, and I like them. Plus, now that I've been with them so long, I get discounts for my "loyalty".

Has the coverage improved the last couple of years as the former Verizon pitch guy claims?

Google Fi seems really interesting. I'm digging my Galaxy 7, will be interesting to see how the Fi Nexus phones compare to the Samsung flagships when my current contract runs out.

Lots of leaks out there, but going to be two phones Pixel (5") and Pixel XL (5.5"). Specs will be on-par with S7 and Note 7, should be available for ~$450 (Pixel) to ~$550 (XL) around October 4. Should work on all networks.

I'm planning on getting the Nexus 6P and moving to Fi (from Verizon) to try it out. Waiting for a discount, but not sure I can make it to October 4th or beyond as the wifi no longer works on my LG G3.

Well, AT&T gave me a free S7 with their BOGO promotion that just ended. There's that!

Soooo close though to the new "Nexus" phones launching. You could always pick up a cheap used one somewhere. 6p is a solid phone, just about to be replaced.

TITCR.

I got on Fi two months ago. It's insane how convenient google makes everything.

Sitting at my desk, a phone call hits my desktop (google hangouts) about 2 seconds before it hits my phone. I can pick it up on my desktop or cell at my option. Another call comes in? I can put my cell on hold to answer it (like always), or I can pick that call up on the desktop simo with my cell, or I can conference in the call on my cell.

I'm constantly asking myself, "why hasn't this feature been an option before?"

Awesome - where are you located? How's the cell service? Between home/office I'm almost always on wifi, but wondering about cell signal when I'm not.
