Wake Forest's own Tommy Elrod caught leaking football information to other teams

Torrian Gray is from Lakeland FL
Elrod is from Winter Park FL
Same age... HS buddies?

Lakeland and Winter Park are about 90 minutes from each other. You may be thinking about Winter Haven which is closer to Lakeland.

Nope, but that is what it sounds like over there.

I mean, I was 99.9% sure, but since we're talking about Louisville fans you never know.

we are getting wrecked in the media by all this too

fuck you elrod

I know for a fact that Dabo had members of the press over to his home for either lunch or dinner and played golf with them this year before the season started. Might have been as early as spring practice, but it happened.

I'm not telling you that you're wrong. I'm just saying that rather than have them over to his house once, Clawson sits down with them for lunch every week. So we can quibble over which one is more or less access. I tend to think the chance to talk casually with the coach over lunch while the season is going on about stuff that's happening in games is more access.

But that's just me.

10-4. I misread your comment.

I agree that we've historically we allowed media access unlike many other ACC schools. I understand why, since we are a tiny school in a state and athletic conference with huge schools- we need all the media attention we can get.

Unfortunately for the media – and maybe for us in terms of recruiting – that's all going to change.

It does kinda suck that these schools getting information from Elrod the last 3 years didn't notify our athletic department, but rather kept hush hush about it. You'd would think that one of these schools would have notified us before we had to stumble upon this issue ourselves against Louisville in year 3 of this secret operation Elrod had going on. Hey, I guess win at all costs right?

They were saying this morning that if comes out that Army was offered and took information from Tommy Boy, then you could pretty assume there are no ethics left in sports.

Putting myself in the situation, I am not sure I would have ratted him out. I wouldn't use the information and would tell what he was doing was not right, but a lot of these guys have know each other 10 plus years

We were under the impression that Wake had already contacted every program involved.
Yesterday Bud Foster said he hadn't heard anything about it.
Today, VT comes out with a statement.

This is a VT football update from yesterday:

2. Bud Foster hadn't heard about the Wakeyleaks findings.

Foster didn't realize Wake Forest had concluded that its color broadcaster Tommy Elrod sold out his own school by offering game plan information to opponents from 2014-16. Louisville admitted it received some information before this season's game.

A Tech spokesman said he had not received any correspondence from Wake Forest on the matter. An open records request is pending. Tech played Wake Forest in 2014, the infamous 6-3 double overtime loss. (Truthfully, it would surprise me if anything came from that.)

As this develops, it will be interesting to see which schools used the information and which did not. Could have been that assistants at both Army and VT (the others we now know about) did nothing with the information and the assistants simply chose to keep quiet rather than report up the chain. I truly believe that Army's administration and VT's administration would have contacted Wellman if they had any inkling this was going on. Those are two decent athletic departments - unlike the cesspool which is at Louisville.

Worldwide Wes has an office at KY. That's the beginning and ending of the statement of KY's cheating...and at each of his previous stops, Cal had his Final Fours erased due to cheating...

let's say this is what happened. do those assistants get punished for not reporting it? should they?

Bob Ryan talking about there being no virgins in college football on Around the Horn and that this is much ado about nothing

Seems it would be easy to use it to an extent without even letting anyone else know about it. An assistant at another school could've got info from Elrod and even though they may have never told anyone else about it, they could make suggestions in coaches meetings. You know, "maybe we should be prepare a little bit for this just in case," type of thing. Heck, I could even see an assistant using that way on purpose to make themselves look good. Let's say Elrod informs them of a special play we're going to run that we haven't shown on film and the assistant just mentions that "maybe we should prepare a little bit for this because you never know." Then if we run it in the game, it makes that assistant look pretty good for bringing it up.
