Retired US Soccer / World Cup Thread (RIP)

siff, I thought Cameron was very good. I thought Brooks had a few positional gaffes and was clearly caught completely off-guard by the cross that should have been a goal for them. You just can't lose your man like that at this level (in fairness, Howard also seemed to be caught off guard by the cross as well).

To your other question, I want Johnson to play but if hes gonna play like that I don't have any issue with starting Bedoya or Acosta in his place in Azteca. I really like Acosta's game.

Definitely a brain fart from Brooks on the Kenwyne Jones near goal, no doubt. Otherwise, thought he was good and that GCam was excellent. I'd rather see Acosta next to Bradley.

Sooooo maybe just a good paper team...

There's a ton of potential there but only what, 2 current world class players in Griezmann and Lloris? That midfield is a great physical trio but doesn't seem like a great mix of skillsets to me

I don't see it! On his day sure consistently not even close. Like I said has the potential to be. You're talking about the anchor of a 6th placed team who found its level in the Europa League, and a guy who hasn't done anything for France

For a brief moment today I considered flying to Mexico for the game. Couldn't convince myself to pull the trigger

Yeah there's a very real chance they don't qualify for the World Cup, though they have 3 of their last 4 matches at home.

They will be fine. Especially due to that last detail.

Lloris gifted Sweden the win, unreal ending

Leigh Griffiths will never have to pay for a drink in Scotland again

You have a choice: three points on the road at Azteca or back-to-back wins in Gainesville to send the Deacs to the CWS for the first time in 62 years. What's your pick?
