Good bourbon

Had a few good pours with a couple of posters from ATL. It was a fun night!

Thanks for the hospitality, B&D . . . maybe next time we try for not a school night

I think I'm still drunk from my visit to Jack's place, and that was like 4 years ago.

Rittenhouse has been almost impossible to find in my city. Total Wine has showed on-line for the last 6 months or so that they will finally have it in June. A couple of weeks ago, my local wine/liquor store finally had a bottle, so I grabbed it. I think it was around $29. They said they could continue to get it, and would probably be one of the few stores in town to have it. They are also the only place in town I have seen that has Sazerac, which I really like. They also normally have Blantons. Rittenhouse definitely makes a nice Manhattan/Old Fashioned; however, for a few bucks more, I think I'd just assume grab a bottle of HW Double Rye.

Edit: Actually Double Rye is still $10 more, so there is a difference in price point.

I check at the ABC store every time I'm in there and it's been gone for like 10 straight visits.

Got some Weller, Ezra Brooks, Basil Hayden Rye, and Sazerac Rye today.

They had some Booker's Tommy's batch and High West Rendezvous. Thoughts?

Scored a bottle of EH Taylor small batch tonight. 1st and only time I have ever seen it on the street.

Found two Weller antique store picks on the shelf today

The EH small batch and single barrel were common down here in the better liquor stores two years ago. So was Blanton's. Not anymore.

Stopped off in WV in our way to Ohio and a guy that works at the hotel said he bought a "collection" at an estate auction. He had some late 60s/early 70s Stitzel-Weller juice. Old Fitz, Cabin Still and Rebel Yell, all sealed. I bought them!

Just picked up an Elijah Craig Small Batch Barrel Proof - quite good. I think I prefer the Board's Four Roses pick more, but still very good.

Tried Basil Hayden's. It's okay. would make a good Old Fashioned but a little boring on its own. A little soft.

I've figured out I'm a 90-95 proof guy, no more, no less. EH Taylor Single Barrel is the only 100 proof I like and it's too hard to find.

You can always proof down a high abv whiskey to your taste.

Had a successful last month of bourbon. Made a work trip to Lexington, KY and walked into the liquor store as they were delivering the one case of Blantons that they get a month and have been able to find two bottles of OWA in the last 3 weeks. Looking forward to enjoying more of each this weekend to celebrate a buddies wedding.
