Alright everyone. What's the plan?

Almost Gold is kicking off the season with NY Strip sandwiches, burgers, dogs, slaw, mac & cheese and more for an "All-American" menu theme to honor 9/11. Considered a move this year, but it looks like we'll be staying in our traditional spot for at least another season. Looking forward to seeing the early birds Saturday morning. It's been a long summer.

I like the Americana theme. Orange lot ruffians will follow suit.

In honor of NCSU's agricultural history, we are doing pulled pork. Will be out there around 7am.

Almost Gold thinking about moving? Going to the Gold Lot or thinking about relocating in the Blue? You guys can't move, you're a cornerstone of WFU tailgating.

Like the All-American theme too, Racer. May start out with some eastern NC fresh sausage with peppers and onions earlier in the day and move over to wings after lunch. See you guys Saturday morning. GO DEACS!

is this tailgate at all an open invitation with like a pot luck component or? Would love to drop in before the game.

1) We'll never be in the Gold Lot. That lot has stepped it up since 2006, but it's just not our personality. Plus, we'd have the change our name.

2) If/when we move, it will be because we're going bigger (i.e. tailgating vehicle and overnight tailgates) and moving to the RV lot. Had hoped to have things in order this season but we were slow on the draw for a few key details.

That said, our current spot next to the drive is becoming a challenge with all of the youngin's we've been adding to the crew. It may be time to pass the reins of our Blue Lot corner on to someone else next season. We've been there in some form or fashion since graduation in 2002. For now though, the yearly tradition of spreading straw to cover up the muddy ground where grass refuses to grow will continue.

We also will Honor the All American Menu !!! The Rulz camp will have NY Strips baked potatoes, salad, banana pudding and American Whiskey !!!

We plan on arriving around 9am and making my rounds before lunch.

God Bless al of you that travel !!!

BEAT STATE YOU BIG BEAUTIFUL HAIRY DEACS!!!

Love threads like this so I can try to keep up on the tailgating scene since I'm out of town.

We've always invited anyone to stop by. Generally, if you want the "good food" (i.e. the steak sandwiches), we like to know ahead of time. Otherwise, we try to have burgers/dogs and a tip jar for anyone who shows up unannounced. The regulars generally bring a side or two with them. You're welcome to do the same if you want to hang for a bit. We're generally BYOB, but we'll have cooler space.

tsy's tailgate is always open and welcoming as well...and his grill/smoker is big enough that you can probably get a good meal just by eating the scraps that stick to the grate. :D

We're doing all of our planning on FB for the most part, because someone (i.e. me) has been lazy in getting our website/forums back up and running. So, if you want to drop by and want us to plan for you, let me know there (https://www.facebook.com/AlmostGold) or PM me here.

This is the first year in the Orange lot. Where are the best tailgate spots in that lot?

The discussion is currently boston butt and/or ribs. Will plan on starting the WSM around 7.

Where Orange meets Blue or Close to Dirks Chilli, or Rulz's Whiskey...or the ABTs over at TSY's....definitely !

A fellow WSM tailgater...mine will be out for a few games this year. Pulled pork, ribs, brisket, and pit beef are all in the plans.

We've migrated way the hell out there near the Pepsi entrance in the orange lot. It's a good spot. Plenty of space.

Need to find you Saturday, BillGeorge!

When we were in the Orange Lot, we'd always set up at the Sidewalk that traversed the parking lot. Its a nice flat area, with cement sidewalks. Best level ground in that lot by far.

I really enjoyed our time there. No issues with mud, and it was nice and level with a portajohn nearby. The only issues were the walk (its all relative) and the Thursday night games having to deal with parking and foot traffic along the sidewalk. If we were still in the Orange lot, we'd most likely still be there.
