BBall Recruiting Thread 2k18 - Hoard, Mucius, Lewis, and Wright sign NLIs!

Agree, not a great analogy. UNC basketball is the most important sports team in Charlotte. Illinois basketball is the... 5th most important sports team in Chicago? Bulls, Bears, Cubs, and White Sox

Well, the Panthers are a bigger deal than anything the Heels do now, but I'd also definitely put the Blackhawks ahead of the Illini. And when things are going well for ND and tOSU, which is often, I'd say they're probably ahead of Illinois too.

6th. Add the Blackhawks

What? The billboard? That's an ongoing advertising campaign in his hometown. I'm sure he's seen it before.

Fair enough. Not from Chicago. However, you tweet the reminder and get Illinois fans panties all wadded up and responding and maybe you get some good humor.

Nah, UNC basketball is behind the Panthers and probably both Clemson and South Carolina football.

Probably more fans from Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, and Wisconsin than Illinois. Local papers cover Illini, Northwestern, and Notre Dame.

Can you imagine how much we'd be freaking out if we had no commits for next season? We'd be in full meltdown mode.

It appears Sarr is on the radar to be a 2 & done prospect that will likely spend quite a bit time on the bench his freshman season.

You sure he will spend a lot of time on the bench? How could we possibly know that.

Not only no recruits, but they have been in the final 2-4 for a number of high level recruits and haven't received a single commit. The rationalization over there is quite sad. Its not quite [Redacted] level sad, but it is pretty depressing. If Wake steals Ayo, they are going to lose it. I really don't think anyone here will bat an eye if we miss on Ayo simply because I think most of the people here (I might be assuming....) feel like if he doesn't commit to us it is his loss. We want him really bad, but we are going to be a very good basketball team without him. I would just love to see him get on the court in a full court press with Chaundee, Mucius, Hoard, and Sarr.....oooh boy. Talk about a fun team to watch. Would be like the 2018 version of the UNLV running rebs. Long, fast, can shoot, and can defend.... And ALL freshman and sophomores. Or if that squad stayed in tact for one more year.... all juniors and sophomores. Good gravy.

Right now I don't know if anybody knows which of the bigs is going to play a lot and which ones will play only a little. Or does Wake play "small ball" without a true big in the lineup? I think we see some of that this year, in addition to lineups with one or two true bigs.
Who of the following will be playing 25+ minutes per game in 2017-2018?

Doral Moore
Terrence Thompson
Sunday Okeke
Olivier Sarr
Samuel Japhet-Mathias
Donovan Mitchell
Rich Washington

None of the above is probably the best option. I'm not sure anybody will be playing 25+ minutes besides Crawford and Woods. I'd put Thompson with the best chance of playing 20+ minutes followed by Moore.

Exactly. Worst case scenario, we're really excited about next year's team and we just feel sad for Ayo and wish him well and hope if he does get a chance to burn us, it's in the Final Four.

Illinois thinks that they have a better team and brighter future than WF. They have 2 top 100 players on their team currently, with one top 50. They also have two four star players not ranked in the top 100 as well. As pointed out, they have no recruits for 2018, so they have no incoming 4*+ recruits.

WF has 5 top 100 guys currently (Brown, Sarr, Moore, SJM, Crawford) plus will be adding two in Mucius & Hoard for 2018. Of those guys, two are top 30 (Hoard & Brown).

Not sure what metric they're using to think they're better off right now.

The Grim Threeper?

My exact thoughts. It was a bad place to be for our fanbase, and so I have sympathy for their current state of basketball. They will look back in a few years and gently mock themselves as you are doing now. If they get Ayo the are still going to be a mediocre basketball team.

Was Woods top 100?

Of course it is just speculation, but as far as minutes played of the bigs, I would predict that it goes Thompson, Moore, SJM, & then Sarr. Collins played 35% of the minutes in his frosh season & I can easily see Sarr not getting that much run.
